Bright Start is one of our professional level programs for students who want a secure career in the medical field. Unfortunately, we don't have unlimited enrollment. We only accept enough students to fill our Internships. We have small, personal classes and most students are referred. Each student has their own instructor for the entire training.
January 15th - The Transcription Class is fully enrolled through February. You may place a deposit to hold a spot.
February 2012 - We have one opening for training in March and three in April. You may place a deposit to hold an enrollment opening.
Bright Start - Professional Level Medical Transcription Training - Course Description
Ten month self-paced program with four classes.
Training is done in your home and is self paced.
Mentored Internship is included in the ten months and is done from your home
Our medical transcription training class is comprehensive and meets the specific education and hiring requirements of employers. This is a 10-month course. You will have your own personal instructor during the medical transcription training. It is expected that full-time students will graduate in ten months or less by studying 30 to 40 hours per week. Part-time students can expect to study 20 to 30 hours per week. The home study is roughly 20% online and interactive. The balance of the program is with the very best software and textbooks published by the founder of the AAMT (now the AHDI).
Mentored Internship is part of the core training and is completed online from your home. Internship teaches on-the-job skills that can only be learned with hands-on training with a mentor. This is the only way to gain experience before leaving school. Mentored Internship delivers lasting results taking students far beyond what traditional classes provide. No other school offers an internship to all students who enroll. Why, because it limits enrollment and must be organized in small, personal groups while online. Note- this is a real internship not a "virtual or computerized, artificial externship".

Anatomy, Physiology and Terminology (APT)
In this class the student learns the language of medicine and the functions of the human body. All of the necessary reference books are provided by Med Workshops.
Medical Transcription Typing
Students will be exposed to a wide variety of physician dictation that duplicates actual working conditions. Here is a list of the medical specialties covered in this section:

Dictated voice files consist of chart notes, letters, office evaluations, history and physicals, consultations, emergency department reports, preoperative notes, and discharge summaries. Also included in the study are these medical conditions or illnesses:

Online Computer Technology for Medical Transcription
This class teaches you to save and name files, how to find files on your computer, how to download and upload files, create transcription "shortcuts", customize your keyboard and toolbar for transcription. This is also the class which will teach you the ins and outs of upload-download of encrypted files. You will learn the home-based setup necessary to work from home.
Mentored Internship is usually six weeks long. This is not an externship or a "virtual" internship - this is an internship with a real medical transcription company. You've received full Professional Level Training by the time you finish. All students are introduced to “real transcription” with a professional transcriptionist as their mentor. The mentor introduces you to the real world of Medical Transcription. You work out the rough spots and you'll learn software programs, employer templates, type real doctor reports, scheduling, office procedures and more. All the daily tasks used by transcription professionals. Learning the many software templates and data storage devices which exist is crucial to be employable. You will see how to produce work at a 95% accuracy level to meet industry standards and you will do this training at your home on your own computer – just like you will once you are employed! You have graduated from Mentored Internship and completed the entire training upon administrative acceptance. You are then ready to work from home!!
