Thank you for your honesty. I realized after receiving only 1 book I may have made the wrong choice. Everything in the book I pretty much already knew from having 21 years medical insurance experience and 5 years previous medical insurance billing experience. I was really upset that none of the work was graded. I honestly would not recommend FutureMT anyone.  I'm still weighing my options for which company I'll be enrolling into. I promise you this time I will pay the higher price to know my investment is well worth it. Med Worshops is still at the top of my list and I will make my final decision by Monday.

Thank You
Mary

-  Thank you for your response.  I did try for a year to get a job in Medical Transcription after Career Step.  Unfortunately, I could not pass the MT tests due to punctuation.  I spent a lot of time re-typing and transcribing from my school tapes and manuals, as well as spending a lot of money on Grammar and English Writing books to perfect my transcription skills.   I kept getting errors on punctuation and commas to be exact.  It seems that the use of a comma in the English language verses in Medical Transcription, is two completely different things.

I have always been an excellent typist and English student throughout my education.  Therefore, to consistently fail tests due to "Punctuation" I just gave up.  I was typing with Auto Correct and averaging 138 words per minute.  Many times I transcribed exactly what was dictated, but  I was marked down for not correcting the dictation.  Then other companies would not mark me down for doing this.  I felt confused and frustrated at the inconsistency of test results and transcription styles within the industry.

I have been employed by my current employer for ten years and they kept offering me advancements to stay within the company.  I guess I took the easy road for me at the time.

I have spent a lot of time, money and desire to become a Medical Transcriptionist and I have always kept the dream of being part of the Medical Transcription industry.  I just feel that I need to reconnect with this goal and try to make something of it.

Best Regards,

I took the transcription course at the U.S. Career Institute. I took it this past year and graduated in October. I have also taken Human Biology and Medical Anatomy and Physiology classes.  I was curious about the make-up class and was wondering about how long it takes on average, and if it's something that I can complete while working full time as well?
What are some of the companies that you guys work with as far as the job placement goes? And do they have pretty competitive salaries compared to other companies?

Thanks, Kasie

-  Hello,  I graduated from M-TEC in June, and I am having a very hard time finding a job. I have put numerous applications in and get the usual not hiring at this time or I need experience. I graduated with a 96% GPA, and I am wanting to put my skills and knowledge that I have learned as an MT to use. Unfortunately, M-TEC did not have an internship program. I have visited your website, and I am wondering do you have a payment plan for the internship program like you do for the actual course? I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks for your time,

I graduated from Meditec last November 2009. It seemed to be very thorough. I studied terminology and reviewed grammar and punctuation. I got a bit confused because they would give some examples of the way a transcript is set up according to their guidelines and then other examples of the AAMT. I guess it's safe to assume that when taking a pre-employment exam use AAMT unless otherwise stated. I think I would be good to go if I transcribed a couple of documents and then was shown the corrections. Nobody is willing to do that when you test for them. I recently purchased the AAMT Book of Style third edition. Hopefully that will go to good use.

- To Whom It May Concern,  My name is Elizabeth, and I am a military spouse who graduated from CareerStep on May 31, 2009.  I have been looking for a medical transcription job since then and I have had no luck.  My husband received orders a couple of months ago to go to Kadena Air Force Base, a U.S. installation in Okinawa.  I saw your website by Google, and, I am very interested in getting more information.  I have to admit that it is frustrating after sending so many resumes out, and, hearing that they are looking for people with 2-3 years experience starting out.  How can one get the experience, if no one is willing to give a new graduate, including one that is a military spouse a chance!  I went into this field because I read in a military spouse magazine that this career is easily transferrable and that it was expected to grow.  I really want to do this, however, I do not know where else to turn.  Does your mentoring program allow for military spouses who have to go to different places including overseas to take this program?  Any help that you maybe able to give would be very grateful.  You may e-mail me at: kehalle@hotmail.com.  Thank you very much, and, have a nice day.

I am interested in taking the Make Up Class with your company……………….. I Live in Texas and I completed the MT training with Ashworth College , Nortress , GA. And, no I paid the tuition myself, but the monthly payments were much smaller and I was not given my diploma of completion until I finished paying for the course…………….
Your help is greatly appreciated.

- I am a June 2010 graduate of Career Step MT program. I scored 97% on the objective portion of the final, and 88% on the practicum (transcription) portion of the final. I was awarded a standard graduation certificate based on these scores. Career Step provides a list of employers for their graduates and I emailed resumes to at least 50 of them so far. I have only had 2 or 3 responses, and those firms said they are not hiring entry level MTs or are seeking only High Honors graduates (96 or 98% graduation scores). I have run into the infamous "2 or more years of experience" requirement and feel that I will not get a job without more training/mentoring.  When I found your website and read about your internship program and the makeup course, I decided that is what I need.  I ask for consideration for your Makeup Course…….

- Thank you so much for getting back to me as quickly as you did. I am really interested in doing the Make Up Class.
Here is the curriculum and practicum from my school. The name of the school that I went through is At-Home Professions. I had a 240-hour practicum, transcribing physician dictation in all medical specialties. Extensive practice with foreign accents. Formatting of the medical reports; such as Operative Reports, Consultation Reports, Discharge Summary, History and Physical Examination, Chart notes, Pathology Reports, Autopsy Reports etc. 3500 word parts and medical terms. Anatomy and Physiology terms. Medications, procedures, tests, and equipment terms from each medical specialty. Punctuation and captitalization. Acronyms and eponyms. Numbers, symbols and abbreviations. Medical plurals. Grammar and editing. Body landmarks and divisions. Body cavities. Cells, tissues and organs. Anatomy and Physiology of all organ systems. Disease processes. Doctor's office and hospital transcription. Authentic physician dictation from these medical specialties: General Medicine, Dermatology, Neurology, Ophthalmology, Cardiology, Immunology, Psychiatry, Pulmonary Medicine, Gastroenterology, Urology, OB-GYN, Pediatrics, Endocrinology, Surgery, Radiology and Pathology.
I am waiting on my final grades from my school. I should receive them this week. I have been talking to the Graduation counselor and she tells me to get business cards, make flyers and send out packets to all the doctors and hospitals around. They will only give you suggestions on what you can do to get a job. No training, No internship, No job placement. She just keeps telling me to send out resumes. All I can put on the resume is the school. I can't put experience down because there is none.
Anyway, I am truly interested in the Make Up Class. I want to get working. I just need training and fine tuning what I have already learned. And of course, to have job placement at the end.
Sincerely,
Kathy

Hello, I am interested in enrolling in the Make Up Class. I have graduated from Baker College in Dec. 2008 and have not been able to even talk to anyone that I have applied to.  Most companies that post on MT sites won't even reply when you send them your resume.  Then the others tell me that even though I passed their tests I do not have the 2+ yrs. experience they require.  So, I am between a rock and a hard spot not knowing what to do next.  My education was extremely expensive and my student loans have been due …………..I am desperate to be employed.  I feel I have the basic skills necessary to be an MT from home.  I would like to know how long this course is and what it all involves.
Thanks for your time.

I received a career Diploma for Medical Transcription from the Penn Foster Career School in March 2009. I have worked in the medical field for 20 years as a CNA, therapy tech, Unit Secretary, UM Coordinator for a variety of medical insurance companies, and hospital and nursing home admissions coordinator.
I would like to schedule a day to take the Make Up Class I am available every day this week after 10:00 am except  Thursday.

I am very interested in the Makeup Class your school is offering.  I was wondering if I could test out of some of the class in order to bring the enrollment fee down a bit?  I am sure you have heard this before, but I spent $2,000 on the wrong school and cannot afford to pay the entire enrollment fee for the class.  Is there any way to participate in the mentorship program without taking the makeup class – maybe by testing into it?  Unfortunately, my school does have job assistance but does not have any answers for someone when they ask for more training or education.  I passed my final with 85% and feel that an internship program or more education is really what I need.  I even had an employer suggest those to me in a rejection email after testing me.  Any advice you could give is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Cathy

- Hello,
I'm a new MT, I took a class online and got scammed out of 3600$. I know you must see this a lot. The company that gave me the course is closed. No certificate or full training, it is hard for me to pass tests with companies. I was wondering if you had a refresher course or a mentoring program that would help me get the rest of my training, and be able to work full time in this wonderful industry.
Thank you
Lyane

Hello. I have looked at so many ads for medical transcriptionists and they all want you to have 2 or more years experience.  New graduates seem to have a hard time proving themselves.  I saw that your training helps people locate jobs and I would like to be a part of a company that does that for its students.

- Hello, I am interested in the Make Up class because I took transcription and terminology classes at the community college. Unfortunately just like many of your other students. When does that class start?

The email sent regarding the job placement certainly hit home. If I could go back and do things differently I probably I would've. I recently graduated with an AAS from Kaplan and assumed that it would have a little leverage but it doesn't. I'm looking into the make up class portion of this training. I graduated and I'm kind of ready to get in the field and get going. I am a single mom and am financially strapped, as many of us are now in this economy. I'm very interested in this program. Do you offer any sort of payment plans for the makeup class? How does it work exactly?
Thanks, Andrea

Hi,
I received all of the materials, and I must say that the difference in the program I took before and this one is incredible!  Feel like I graduated from pre-K and am now going to start High School.  Believe it or not, the only materials we got from the Gatlin program was a terminology book (100 pages) and a workbook that was full of punctuation material and templates for typing reports.  THATS IT!  There was no Anatomy or Physiology.  Makes me feel a little better about doing so poorly on the exam I took from you.  Anyway, I have been reading, reading, reading, and am excited about actually learning something!

- Unfortunately Penn Foster does not help. They leave you on your own. Thank-you or answering me. At this point I am really getting frustrated.

Hello-My name is Suzanne W. I recently completed a Medical Transcription Course with Career Step……………………..  I am very interested in trying to do Medical Transcription as a career, but haven't been able to find a company that will hire with no experience. I am wondering if I would qualify to participate in your train to hire Thanks for your time

- Hi,
I was just looking your website and saw that you offer a Make Up program for graduates of other transcription programs. How much does that cost? Here's my situation. I've done all the coursework required to graduate from the VLC except for the final exam.  They won't let me take the final exam or even graduate from the program (including the internship) unless I have a 90% average. I have an 87%. They won't let me do any extra work to bring my average up and all they are offering me is a medical terminology certificate. I've been working on this program for a year and a half and have paid thousands of dollars for it. I'm trying to see if I can graduate with a lesser certificate of medical transcription (they had 3 levels of programs and I enrolled in the most advanced one at the time) because I have over-met the requirements for the other certificates, but I'm not sure if they will allow me to graduate with a different certificate than the one I initially signed up for. Is it possible that I could be accessed by one of your counslers to see where my skills are at and see if I can just go right into your internship?
Faith

- To Whom It May Concern :My name is LaRaine B.  I have graduated from another medical transcription course from At-Home Professions in Fort Collins, Colorado.  Like so many others that I have read about on your web site, I too have graduated from my MT course but am having a very difficult time finding employment as a medical transcriptionist.  They do want the 2 years experience and how to do get experience if no one will hire you so that you can gain experience.  I am sure you have heard this all before.  I was very interested in finding out more about your Make Up Class.  It sounded like that would be for someone in my circumstance.  If I was to take the Make Up Class, does that automatically enroll me in the Job Placement Program as well?  Or is that an extra charge?  Please send me any information you can.  I appreciate it so much.
Thank you so much for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely, LaRaine B

- I graduated from Allied Business Schools in July of 2008.  I have spent much of my time trying to break down the proverbial Wall of Jericho.  I am interested in the 'Make-up Class' mainly because the 'employee list' included part-time workers, work-at-home and those who are semi-retired and seeking a source of extra income.  I am described by this list, as I would like to work from home and part-time.  I also loved the learning segment of my college course and KNOW I could do well in and with medical transcription as a job.  I think I'm above average in my understanding of English.  I also like the 'mentorship' offer with the Make-up class and the pairing off with a professional transcriptionist.  I am most happy with the job-placement opportunity.  I am still looking for reputable companies as I don't want to have another 'college' with no support to the graduate once their studies are over.  Allied was really a good college as far as the studies and learning, but once I earned my certificate, I found no support or resource toward getting a job.
Thank you for your interest.
Sincerely,
Diane De

- Hi,
I graduated from the At-Home-Professions Medical Transcription course in January 2010 with a 93% gpa. I am not yet working as a transcriptionist. The MT jobs in El Dorado County are few and far between, so I am now looking to Folsom and Sacramento for work. My goal is to work from home if possible.

- Hello,
I am interested in learning more about the Make Up Class that you offer. I recently graduated from the Andrews School medical transcription program. I did well in the course but I am having problems acquiring my first MT job for many reasons-- my lack of 2 years of experience, the economic downturn, etc. I came upon your website and wish that I had discovered you a year ago! Any information that you can supply me about the Make Up Class will be appreciated. I want to use my MT training and gain valuable experience so that I can succeed in this profession.
Thanks for your time.
Sincerely,
Charles

Surgery 48 hrs.
Radiology 16 hours
Pathology 16 hours
Physicians with foreign accents.  Doctor's office and hospital transcription.  Research techniques.  Medical report formatting.  Medical terminology.  English Usage.  Anatomy and Physiology.  Technology.  I have also spent $3000.00 to do this.  I can not afford to spend another $2,500 to retake these classes.  I really would like to get into this field; can you all help me?

Hello, …………..  I am interested in learning more about your internship program.  I graduated from Career Step in May with high honors.  However it is quite difficult, as your website states, to get a job without the two years of experience.  I would love the opportunity to begin to work for you as an intern!  What a great way to take that next step from the classroom on the way to a job. I am not sure how the internship program works…………………………..  Please clarify the internship process for me.  I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Thank you, Audrey K

I have also taken Human Biology and Medical Anatomy and Physiology classes.  I was curious about the make-up class and was wondering about how long it takes on average, and if it's something that I can complete while working full time as well?  I can't find a job with just my schooling.

Please don’t attend a Diploma Mill teaching Medical Transcription!  You know the ones we mean; they offer certificates for a plethora of subjects.  The course is usually a cookie cutter approach.  You’ll be able to tell a great program because it will offer internship and mentoring by trained professionals.

You don’t want to be in this situation when you graduate and begin looking for employment:

• You can't meet the 2 year experience requirement
• You're taking the long and scary employer typing tests and not passing
• You really have no clue how to configure your computer to work from home
• Specific employer software templates have you baffled- you've never seen them before
• You have no employer support network after graduating
• Sadly, no one is responding to your resume

Unfortunately, some students spend
thousands of dollars on inferior training.

Many transcription school graduates come to us recommended by employers that would not hire them because of "inadequate education".

If this shortfall applies to you, take our Make Up Class
