Sample Doctor Dictation - and Download Instructions for Express Scribe
Please ensure that you have installed Express Scribe. Reboot your computer so Express Scribe will be activated. Some students don't complete this step correctly and then can't load the dictation!
Please be sure your foot pedal is adjusted !! Check your computer for the necessary unzip or extract program/utility.

FOR ADVANCED STUDENTS ONLY - YOU MUST TRANSCRIBE THIS SAMPLE DICTATION BEFORE MT TYPING TESTS- THIS IS NOT FOR NEW STUDENTS!

1. Click on the link above- Sample Dictation File.
2. A dialogue box will open and choose save.
3. The file will be zipped. Save it to your computer desktop as a zipped file.
4. After downloading, close out the internet connection.
5. Right click on the zipped file and choose "extract all" or "decompress" or "unzip" depending on your computer.
a. The dictation can't be loaded to Express Scribe until it is unzipped !!
b. If your computer doesn't have a zip utility (usually a Windows Vista machine), you will need to buy and install WinZip or a zipping program.
6. The unzipped file will be on your desktop now along with the zipped file. Delete the zipped file.
7. Double click on the unzipped file exposing the voice file.
8. Double click on the voice file. If it doesn't open in Express Scribe then do this:
a. Right click on the voice file and choose "open with"
b. If Express Scribe is visible choose it and click OK.
c. If Express Scribe isn't visible use "choose program". Choose Express Scribe and click OK.
9. The dictated voice file should appear in the Express Scribe window - highlight the voice file.
10. Click the right arrow button to play the dictated voice file- Dictation.
11. If you don't hear the voice your speakers may not be hooked up. See if the Welcome greeting will play. See if a music CD will play.
12. If you still don't hear the dictation, uninstall Express Scribe and reinstall. Reboot your computer.
