Medical Transcription Testimonials

Hello,  my name is Theresa W. I completed training and internship with Med Workshops a few years ago. I worked for the company I was referred to for years, was promoted to proofreader; then back to transcriptionist due to some restructuring. I ended up leaving .......... due to family circumstances.

I think the program was extremely helpful.  The only thing that I wish the program would of covered is blanks.  I think during all the practice work, we should of practiced on inserting blanks.  When I first started transcribing, I did not know how to insert blanks.  I am enjoying my new part-time job with......  She is a wonderful boss and has helped me immensely. Patti S.

I've had an incredible career after your training. I am still working as an MT and have my own company. Med Workshops placed me and from there I worked hard and succeeded. Your program changed my life. Without it, I doubt I'd ever have gotten a job if not for your school. Thanks Amy C

Thank you note from a former student:  It is with regret that I had to quit my job as a medical transcriptionist. It is a decision I have not taken lightly but due to personal time constraints and new demands on my time I am simply unable to continue. I will, of course, give two weeks notice.  Thank you for everything. I have learned so much and would love the opportunity to work as an MT again in the future.  Sincerely,  Valerie

I just wanted to take the time to say a big thank you for all your help and  patience with me over the past several months. I am very excited to start this new chapter in my life. I could not have done it without all your help. I have to say at the same time I am nervous about this change too. I just do not want to let anyone down on that end as well as myself. I know I have a lot to learn and improving to do, but know that will come with time and experience too. I just want you to know how much I truly appreciate every thing you have done to help me along this journey.  Sincerely, Dawn

My best friend referred me to Med Workshops Medical Transcription Online Training Program. She had taken the online course three years ago and was still working from home as a MT and really liking it. I enrolled and completed the course. It was really nice to start getting paychecks before the holidays! I would recommend Med Workshops School to anyone that wants to work from home as a medical transcriptionist. Chris

I wanted to let you know I am still working for the MT Company Med Workshops placed me with and I am enjoying being an MT. Thanks again for your wonderful program. Without it, I'm pretty sure I would still be looking for an MT job. -----Thanks Karin M

That is where I first learned about medical transcription. Medical transcription sounded perfect for me. I have always like to type and enjoyed the medical field. I fount the perfect program for me. I looked at many different program in both online and classroom settings and Med Workshops’ program was the most comprehensive. I knew I would need an Internship. The course was very challenging. My student representative, was always available to answer my questions, cheer me on, and support. I had done transcription years ago for a few months and really enjoyed it. I knew I would need training to be able to get a job as an MT in today’s job market. I did a lot of searching for Medical Transcription Training programs and schools. One school stood out from the rest. It was called Med Workshops Medical Transcription School. Med Workshops has internship and job placement.  I could not find any other program that had this. I enrolled and was so grateful I did. I was a recent graduate of the local community college’s medical transcription training program. I soon found out the ongoing problem new graduates have in trying to fine work as a medical transcriptionist. Everyone wants 2+ years of experience. The community college I graduated from could not help me get a position as a medical transcriptionist; they could only train me to be one. I was searching the internet and found a program that not only teaches medical transcription, it has an internship and job placement. The program is offered by Med Workshops. I really wish I had taken their course in the first place. Luckily for me, they have a program for graduates of other MT schools in my position too. The program Med Workshops offers is called the Finish Up program with Internship and Job Placement. I completed their program in three months including the internship and I am happy to say now working as a subcontractor for the MT Company I interned with. Thank you Med Workshops! Crystal

I want to let you know how pleased I was with your program in Medical Transcription Online Training. I ran across your Med Workshops Medical Transcription Training web site after looking for a good program with internship and a good track record. I found both with Med Workshops. The program was very complete and really got me ready for the internship. The internship was hard, but worth it! I learned so much throughout the program and the internship. I love working for the company I interned with. Medical Transcription was the perfect fit for me! Thank you again Med Workshops! Julie

I want to thank everyone at Med Workshops Medical Transcription Online Course School. My instructor taught many things about transcription that I never would have been taught by taking a college course. By attending your online school and interning with the company you placed me with, it has allowed me the freedom to successfully start my own business at home to get away from the corporate world and long commutes, allowed me to be accessible for my kids, and yet still bring in a good income. Cindy has been extremely helpful in answering any questions that I have and helping me to learn where to go to get answers on my own. The school and internship was very intense, but very well worth my time, investment and effort. I have learned a great deal and thoroughly enjoy doing transcription. I look forward to many years of continued work in transcriptionist. Again, thank you so much for your wonderful support. Melody

It was luck that I stumbled onto the Med Workshops Medical Transcription Online Training program. I had been out of the work force for a few years having children and didn’t want to get back into my past line of work as a flight attendant. I loved being a flight attendant, but didn’t want to be away from my kids that much. I wanted to do something from home. My dad is a doctor and my mother a nurse, they suggested I try medical transcription.  I felt that Med Workshops was my best choice because of their internship and job placement. Once I completed the course and the internship, I started working from home as an independent contracted MT for the company I interned with. I never dreamed I would be a work from home mom and how much I would enjoy my work and still being able to be the mother I want to be. Thank you Med Workshops! You have a great program! Rebecca

The course was perfect for me because I wanted to expand my career, and have always been interested in the medical field and working from home. I would recommend this course to anyone who enjoys working in the medical field. Thank you, Med Workshops!  Suzie

I wanted to find something to do part time. I had no idea what I wanted to do and something in the medical field would be preferable. A friend of mine told me about a work-from-home job her daughter was doing. Med Workshops Online Medical Transcription Training with Internship and Job Placement. The more I looked into medical transcription, the better it looked to me. I spoke to my girlfriend’s daughter and she told me all about the medical transcription course she took and Med Workshops Online Course. Med Workshops Online School included internship and job placement. Job placement sounded really good. I enrolled right away. Now I have completed the course and internship. I am now working from home for the company I interned with. I love my new job, it fits my life perfectly. I love making extra money. I would recommend Med Workshops online medical transcription school to anyone wanting to work from home. Rita

I found Med Workshops Medical Transcription Training on the internet. Their program with internship looked perfect for me.  I found the internship and the training I received through Med Workshops to be just what I needed to obtain employment as a medical transcriptionist and work at home in a relatively short period of time. I have continued to receive support and encouragement from Med Workshops. Med Workshops has always been very supportive in answering my questions and addressing my concerns. Through Med Workshops internship I have accomplished in less than one year. I am happy to be working as a medical transcriptionist.  Carrie

My experience with Med Workshops has been a good one! As a mom with three children I loved the ability to have a flexible schedule. The course itself was very rigorous, that is what made me love it. Being a very detailed person; it was just what I needed. Everyone at Med Workshops has been very helpful and you can tell the desire they have to help you succeed. I see the future in Medical Transcription can take me as far as I would like to go, meaning it is what I put into it! The internship was a great experience, very intense, but a great way to learn as you go and become a transcriptionist with help from the experts along the way. I ended up with a great team to work with. I am able to fit work into my busy life. I would recommend Med Workshops to anyone going into Medical Transcription. Annie

In entering the program I had a couple key objectives. I wanted to start back to work both for additional income but also so that I could be a productive member of society. I had not been in the work force for the last 4 years and was thoroughly enjoying my stay-at-home mom career; however, felt that as my children were all now in school full-time I needed more out of my life. This decision was not just my decision but one my family made together, as I have three daughters, twins who are now 10 and a 6 year old and a husband of 15 years. My twins have always been educationally challenged and therefore have taken much more of my time as a mother. Having twins taught me to be very organized and clinical, as they had special needs at birth. My husband is a great financial contributor but his job takes him out of the home for 8-10 days a month and therefore I wanted to be able to be flexible to the demands of his career. In my past jobs I've managed and lead teams in many different fields, but have always had a remote supervisor which taught me how to be self-sufficient as well as self-assured.  Knowing all of these factors I really wanted to find something that would meet all of our family needs as well as be well suited for me. Taking a course from home that would then feed me into a career that was also based out of the home seemed to be the right fit. It was a bonus that I've had several family members in the medical field and although the field has always intrigued me I don't have the stomach to actually work with the ill.

The program is really whatever you make of it as an individual student. The resources are available, but if you don't have the drive to succeed it's not the right fit for you. I learned that very early on, when limited communication was the expectation and slow response time was also part of the 'normal' routine. I worked through the program at a fairly easy pace...and even took about a month off over 2 two-week periods to take pre-planned vacations. I did have to file for one extension, when I was not originally planning to. This was simply due to the slow return time in the Final Test taking process, which I was not expecting. Some more communication up-front about this would be beneficial for students during this Finals process. I'm not sure how long I expected this to take but it wasn't 12 weeks which is about how long it took.

This program was enticing on several levels, as previously mentioned, but mostly because of its mentor/internship program. I have had friends who have gotten certified in MT but have never been able to find jobs because the field is very competitive and most employers are looking for skilled on the job know-how. This is where medworkshops has the edge over all the other programs or even the college classes that you can take.

Every person who I had the pleasure to speak with on an individual basis was very professional and knowledgeable. I've now been working as an intern for 3 days and each day has been a great experience. My ultimate goal is to be able to enjoy working from home for 6-10 hours a day and still be able to be a mother and wife to my children and husband, while being able to provide some additional financial support as well as a needed service for my community. At this point in time I feel as if that goal will be a reality shortly. Thanks, Jen

Note from the staff at Med Workshops: Because we provide internship training, we must review the final testing results in much more detail than simply the score. Every aspect of the test results are evaluated per subject or skill. We must look for “anything” which would hurt a student’s chances for success in a work-like environment. This can’t be done grading quickly by computer. It is a human evaluation process and therefore takes time. The tests Jen mentions are a group of seven to eleven tests taken just before mentored internship. We want each student to be ready for all facets of internship.

One of the things I wanted to do most was to work from home. Med Workshops gave me a way to do that. I am now working in my home office and loving it. Med Workshops training and instruction with mentored internship helped me to reach my goal. The classes were not only interesting and educational and I loved them. And now the part is I am making money!!! Thank You Med Workshops for helping me make my dream come true. Ryan

After many years of being a stay-at-home mom, I decided it was time to start investigating a new career and get back to work. My sister is a medical transcriptionist and recommended the profession to me so I started doing research and was immediately drawn to Med Workshops, largely because of the opportunity for internship. I just completed the coursework and began my internship today! While today was challenging, I believe the Med Workshops courses prepared me well for the internship and future employment. The courses were thorough, informative, and very interesting. I loved the fact that the coursework could be done on my own time, at my own pace. Thank you Med Workshops for opening the door to a exciting new career. Val

I decided to become a medical transcriptionist. I decided that I needed to earn extra income and working from home as a medical transcriptionist seemed like a great idea. I never heard of Med Workshops before until I searched for schools on the Internet. After reading about the courses and how Med Workshops offers an internship, I knew that was the Medical Transcription Course for me. The school provided me with all of the books, software; handouts that I needed to successfully complete the course. My course instructor was wonderful as was my mentor in internship. I have been working as a medical transcriptionist for three months now, and I really love it. It takes some time initially with balancing a brand new career and my family, which includes small children, but it gets easier everyday. I would definitely recommend Med Workshops to anyone interested in a career as a medical transcriptionist.  Pauline

I have had the best experience with the online medical transcription training program I took through Med Workshops Medical Transcription School. The course was very complete, I learned so much. I loved the subject; I have always liked the medical field. The internship was intense, but it really upped my typing speed. I’m now into my second month as a medical transcriptionist. This was one of the best things I’ve done for myself. Casey

I had graduated from a well known online school that taught medical transcription. I graduated with a 95% grade point. I was happy with my course until I went to try and fine work as a medical transcriptionist. The school did not offer any kind of real assistance in finding a job and I felt left high and dry. Everyone wanted at least two years of experience. I spent hours on the internet sending out resumes. I came across a blog that had other graduates like me saying they took a course with Med Workshops Medical Transcription Finish Up program and they are now working as MTs. It was a course for graduates of medical transcription courses that could not break into the field because of lack of experience or not having an internship. I enrolled in the Med Workshops Medical Transcription Finish Up course and was very pleased. Not only did I learn a lot I had not in the previous course I completed their internship program and started working for the MT company after the six week internship.  Jenny

My experience at Med Workshops has been a positive one. It is a very intense and vigorous training program, but I feel confident that this training will give me an advantage once I pursue employment in other places. I have learned a lot about the anatomy and its function, and that in itself has helped me on a personal level as well. When I decided to take an online class, one of my concerns was not having the class in the traditional classroom setting; however, my instructor made my experience a pleasant one. If I ever needed to contact her with any questions, and if she wasn’t available at that time, she away returned my calls in a timely fashion and took the time out to walk me through any problems or questions that I was having. My instructor was very professional, knowledgeable, and patient. She is definitely an asset to Med Workshops. I feel confident that after my internship and employment. I will eventually gain the hands-on experience necessary for me to start my own successful at-home business. My ultimate goal is to be able to work from home which would enable me to spend more time with my husband who will be retiring in a few years. Overall, I have had a positive and excellent experience and would highly recommend Med Workshops! Toye

I had wanted to become a medical transcriptionist for a long, long time. I finally decided to enroll in an online course when the economy turned and I lost my job. I researched many online schools in medical transcription and ended up choosing Med Workshops Medical Transcription Training with Internship and Job Placement. I’d heard a lot of success stories about their program and I was not disappointed. The program was everything I wanted and needed to become a Medical Transcriptionist. After I completed the 10 month course including the internship, I started right in working from home. I love my new career in Medical Transcription. Thank you Med Workshops. Jeri

I had been out of the workforce for four years, staying home with my son, when I felt it was time to go back to work.  I did not want to go back to hairstyling because I would have to start building a clientele all over. My husband and I have a dream to move somewhere warm and tropical maybe even out of the country when our middle daughter graduates in four years. When we make this move, I would have to start building a clientele in a new town all over again.  I love being an at home mom and my dream job would be working from home, making my own hours, and being able to take my job with me.  I started researching medical transcription schools and had narrowed it down to a few.  Some schools offered job assistance with companies that they have a relationship with, waiving the two-year experience rule.  I took it upon myself to contact these companies and not one said they would definitely hire a new MT.  If they had a vacancy and the new MT passed an exam, they would be considered for the position.  At that point, I felt confident in picking the only school with a mentored internship and job placement Med Workshops. There would be no stress at the end of the training trying to find a job and that was a huge relief to me. During my course, I could work at my own pace and at my own hours.  I had a fabulous instructor to guide me through the course and answer any questions I had.  I received top-notch textbooks, workbooks, and software with practice dictations. Once I had completed the course, work I was placed in a six week internship with a mentor. I was started out slow and week by week, the amount of work I received was increased.  The support from my mentor was exceptional.  At the end of all of the course work and training, I had an incredible job that I could take anywhere!  Thank you Med Workshops. Kim

I found Med Workshops medical transcription online course.  I enrolled and got to my studies. I read medical terminology, pharmacology and much, much more.  I really enjoyed this subject a lot more than I dreamed I would.  I completed the course sooner than expected, once I completed the six week internship I received my contract and am happy to say, working from home as an MT.  My family is now considering a move across country and I am relieved that I can take my job with me.  Jeri

I have to say that I wish that I could have found Med Workshops first before the previous school. But, I didn't. The course at this school was so much more detailed and just excellent compared to the first medical transcription school I attended. I learned so much more from them than I had from the previous school. The instructors are a real gem. They are the very best. They are always there to help with questions or concerns. The previous school was only there on certain hours and never on weekends. They would not supply me with a private email for a one on one for any of the instructors. I never talked to the same instructor twice. With Med Workshops, I got assigned a mentor and instructor that saw me through everything. I only have the highest praise for this school and would recommend it to anyone looking to become an MT.  Sherry

I married my high school sweetheart right after graduation, three months later he enlisted in the military.  We relocated to San Diego, California.  We had planed on me not working and starting our family early.  Well, California is not a cheep place to live and the military does not pay well.  We did have one child quickly and then I got pregnant with another.  Being faced with a lot of relocating because of my husband’s enlistment, our growing family and our financial situation, I started looking for some way to make money from home.  Six months into my pregnancy, I ran across a blog site about medical transcription one night while surfing the internet.  I was so excited about the possibility of this that I could hardly sleep.  The next couple of days I researched all the information that I could on this career.  Within five days I had enrolled in a medical transcription online course called Med Workshops. I chose them because they have great reviews and an A+ rating with the BBB. I was so excited and couldn’t wait to get started.  One month later I was told by my doctor that I needed to spend the next two months on bed rest, I was devastated.  My mother came to stay with us to help out with our son and brought her laptop.  My mother was so busy with our son and I was so bored, that she set me up with her laptop.  I was able to continue my medical transcription course and actually spend a lot more time at it.  My mother stayed on for awhile after the baby were born.  Having two baby boys was not an easy job, but I completed my online course and was placed with a medical transcription company as a contractor.  I am so happy with my choice.  Last year we were sent over seas for two years and I am able to do my work online from our new location.  This is the perfect career choice for me and my family.  Dawn

Thank you for the opportunity to give you feed-back on my experiences with Med Workshops Medical Transcription Training.  I began my training in January of 2011.  I anticipated completing my training and beginning my internship around November, 2011, to coincide with my retirement as an Air Quality Scientist after 32 years.  I envisioned a job that I would enjoy, and that would allow me flexibility in work hours.  My husband is retired, and we want to be able to travel between our two homes.  Working from home would allow me to blend my career and personal life more seamlessly, and would provide an income to pay for health care and unexpected expenses, while working part time.  I retired, in large part, because of health issues that made it impossible to perform the demanding physical aspects of my profession, and impossible to work for continuous 10-hour days.  I believed that working from home, in a job that was enjoyable and not physically demanding, and would allow me to work less rigid hours, was a great solution.  Med Workshops seemed ideal for these goals.  I began with great interest and enthusiasm.  The instructors and staff at Med Workshops were all great.  All my questions were answered quickly and thoroughly, and they have been great "cheerleaders" along the way.

In June of 2011 my plans were interrupted by the unexpected sale of our home and a crisis with my parents' health.  Med Workshops worked with me to allow me to suspend my training while I made several transitions.  These included moving my parents to Assisted Living, selling their home and purchasing new homes in two different states, and settling into them.  After my retirement and completing our moves I resumed my training in March of 2012.  My course work was completed in early July.  Throughout all of the course work, I found all of the material interesting and useful, and was pleased and grateful for the assistance I received from Cindy at Med Workshops. It's been a very long 2 years, but I'm now looking forward to starting my internship.  I feel fortunate that I was able to continue with my medical transcription plans after such a long journey.  I'm hopeful that my internship will be rewarding and I will be comfortable with continuing on into a part time career as a transcriptionist.  It's a bit difficult to plan with any certainty because I don't know what kind of income I can generate, or how many hours of work it will require.  However, I fully believe in finishing what I start, and that no education and/or training experience is wasted.  I've learned a great deal from my experience with Med Workshops, and am glad I made the decision to complete this program.  Jackie

I’m a mom of twins. I always planned on going back to work once they started school. As it turned out, we needed a second income sooner than that.  I started searching jobs I could do from home. I ran across medical transcription, medical billing and coding. I decided medical transcription would be a good fit for me. After doing more research on the web I found a great medical transcription online course with internship and job placement called Med Workshops Online Medical Transcription Training and the tuition was very doable for us. I enrolled right away and got started. My mother helped out a lot with the twins to give me extra time to study. My goal was to finish the program early, so I could get started working. I was able to complete the course in 6 ½ months. The internship was hard, but I loved it. I am now working as an MT for the company I interned with. It’s a great way for a stay at home mom to be able to work and still stay at home.   Erin

I just want to do a real “shout out” to Med Workshops! Today was my first day as a paid medical transcriptionist! Last week was my last week in internship. I received my contract on Thursday afternoon, sent it back Friday and I’m happy to say…. I now work as an MT! I have wanted this for so long. I found Med Workshops last summer. I chose them because they offered internship and job placement. Med Workshops is A++++ Thank you!  Emily

Today is my last day of internship, and I have learned so much! My training through Med Workshops prepared me well for the real world of transcription.  The mentored internship provided me with valuable training, too. Merle was so helpful with tips to make the transcription go faster and encouragement. I look forward to my continued relationship with the company you placed me with. Thank you Med Workshops!  Sharon

I have always wanted to work from home. I started researching work from home jobs. I had always been interested in the medical field so it seemed like medical transcription would be a perfect fit for me. I was a little concerned about my typing ability. I had taken typing in high school, but only typed about 20 words a minute. I found Med Workshops Medical Transcription Training. I chose them because they had great reviews and looked like they had been successfully training and placing medical transcriptionists in jobs for many years. I loved the course. By the time I started out with the typing portion of the course I felt more confident about my typing ability. I was able to type 40 words a minute after finishing the typing portion. I really increased my speed in internship. I’ve now been working as an MT for just over nine months and can type 85 words a minute. If you’re afraid to become a medical transcriptionist because you do not feel your typing ability is adequate, I would not worry, you will increase your speed over time in this course. Sheila

I did a lot of web browsing and forum reading.  I went to WAHM sites and medical sites for my research.  I picked medical transcription because it seemed ideal!  I was really excited and enrolled in Med Workshops Medical Transcription Training course because it looked solid and would help me start a new way of making money. Once I finished the course I learned what so many newbies learn, you need two years of experience or you need to do an internship. I’m sure I would never have found a job without the internship. I’m an MT now and love the job!!  I really like working from home.  I think my dogs like it because I am at home.  This whole thing was an adventure for me and one I’m grateful for. I am a very happy work at home wife and so pleased with myself.  Roberta

I am a mother of three kids under the age of 7. I wanted to find work I could do from home to earn some money. I could not afford to put my three children in daycare plus our second car is not all that reliable. I had remembered a mother of a friend of mine in high school who had done medical transcription from her home. I talked it over with my husband and we decided I would find a good online medical transcription course and enroll. I found Med Workshops Online Medical Transcription Training Program. Med Workshops had Internship and Job Placement. After reading some blog and chat sites I came to realize internship and job placement are extremely important in medical transcription. The course was great! It taught me everything I needed to know and how to keep growing in my medical knowledge. I leaned even more in internship. Now I’m working from home adding to the family income. It has really taken the financial stress off my husband. I do part time work now, but plan to go full time as soon as my kids are all is school. Thank you Med Workshops. Tiffany

I was looking for something convenient with the option to work from home. I also wanted to enroll where there was an internship and job placement program to ensure work after completing my training. I chose Med Workshops Medical Transcription Online Training because of their excellent reputation and great rating with the BBB. Med Workshops was everything I hoped it would be and more. I completed the program and was placed with the company I interned with. I love working from home.  Kari

I have been a nurse for 45 years. The work got to be so hard on my back and knees that I had to retire. Once I retired I wanted to fine part time work.  I found a great online Medical Transcription course that also had internship. The course was with Med Workshops Medical Transcription Training. I enroll and got right to work.  Most of the material came pretty quickly for me even though it had been along time since I had taken any kind of schooling. I really enjoyed studying from home. I was sent a set of books and study materials. I had an online instructor that was very helpful.  Once I completed the course, I did a six week internship with the Medical Transcription Company I am not working for.  Nancy

I had been a very successful high end luxury car sales woman.  Living in the NYC area during good times made this a very lucrative career.  I had been single for a long time and was only dependent on myself.  I was in my mid 50s with no kids.  I did have two small dogs that I dearly loved and doted on.  I hated leaving my dogs for such long hours lock up in the house while I worked in car sales, so now I was toying with the idea of finding some kind of work I could do from home. I was also tired of the commute and NYC traffic. After much research, I was considering becoming a medical transcriptionist.  It was scary and exciting all at the same time.  After much more research I enrolled in Med Workshops Medical Transcription Training Online Program they looked like they could provide me with the training I would need to start this new career.  I studied hard, enjoyed this new subject and excelled in the program.  Once I had finished the course I did an internship that was very strenuous, but I got through it.  I’m not sure I would have succeeded without it because I am older and my study habits are not too good. I am now a medical transcriptionist (MT) and love working from home.  I think my two little dogs love my new career choice also. It couldn’t have worked out better for me at this time of my life.  I am so thankful.  Monica

I had a very good experience with Med Workshops Online Medical Transcription School. I wanted to find a job I could do from home. Med Workshops gave me the medical transcription training with internship and job placement that I needed to break into this field. I love my job and working from home. If I had it to do over again, I would still chose Med Workshops. I recommend them highly.  Jessica

I had a friend refer me to Med Workshops Medical Transcription School. She had taken their online course 6 years ago and was still working from home as a medical transcriptionist and really liking it. I enrolled and completed the course. It took me a little longer then the 10 months, but I graduated and completed the internship before Thanksgiving. It was really nice to start getting paychecks before the holidays! I would recommend Med Workshops School to any mom’s that want to work from home. Trudy T.

It was extremely important to me to find a work from home job. My husband is epileptic and is prone to seizures, so he needs someone with him at all times. Because of my husbands medical issues I became very interested in the medical field. I did some research online to find an online medical transcription course that was in my price range. I chose Med Workshops Medical Transcription Training because I read they were the best with the highest success rate for employment once you’ve graduated. I was not disappointed. I loved the course and my instructor. The books I received were very user friendly and I still use them now that I’m working as an MT for reference. I love my job and still am able to be sure my husband is safe. I would call Med Workshops a life saver for us. Thank you. Julia

I chose Med Workshops because of their great reputation. I enjoyed the subjects and scored well.  Our curriculum included terminology and transcriptions in Dermatology, Otorhinolaryngology, Ophthalmology, Pulmonary Medicine, Cardiology and Hematology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Orthopedics, and many others. Also we studied medical terminology, perspectives on medical transcription and style with formatting. The internship was hard, but I was glad I had it. I love working from home. I would recommend Med Workshops highly.  Alexa

I was recently married to my boyfriend who had enlisted in the military. We relocated to another state like so many military couples. We did decide to have one child right away because it seemed like the best time.  After I got pregnant, I started looking for some way to make money at home. I chose what I thought was a good school and graduated from Penn Foster School for Medical Transcription. I scored well. My problem became this: They don’t help much with job placement.  Also, they don’t have an internship program.  They do promise to help with resume writing and I’m now good at that.  However, they only inform you of job openings whenever they get them, which is too rare. I found Med Workshops Medical Transcription School. Med Workshops has a course for graduates of other schools that can not find work. I enrolled in their Finish Up program with Internship. I passed within three months and can happily say love the MT job I was placed in. I would recommend Med Workshops to everyone. Jen

I was in the Real Estate industry for 23 years and when the economy went bad I lost my job. A good friend suggested that the medical field would be a good field to go into as it would be rescission proof. I checked into many different Medical Transcription courses and found that there was big differences in the amount of training they provided. Some courses were merely an introduction on the subject and some were far more complete in the amount of training they produced.  I also found there was big differences in the pricing for these courses. I chose Med Workshops for my training and was very please with my choice. I received seven books and seven eBooks.  I followed the course outline working through my study material at my own pace.  My online instructor was very helpful and knowledgeable.  I received some practice software that I was able to actually practice typing many chart notes with. This really built my confidence in Medical Transcription. Once I completed all the course work I was placed in an internship that lasted six weeks.  I started out with about 10 minutes a day Monday thru Friday, each week I would get an additional 10 of dictation added a day.  At the end of my internship I was typing 60 minutes of dictation a day.  I think that without this internship I would never have been able to get a job as an MT. I am now typing 80 to 120 minutes of dictation a day. I have talked with other MT’s that have completed other courses and they are still trying to find an internship and a job.  I am so very thankful I chose the course I did for this reason.  I feel I got the best possible training at a reasonable price. Maureen

I have been a nurse for 35 years. The work got to be so hard on my back that I had to retire. Once I retired I wanted to fine part time work.  I found a great online Med Workshops Medical Transcription course that also had internship. I enroll and got right to work. Most of the material came pretty quickly for me even though it had been along time since I had taken any kind of schooling. I really enjoyed studying from home. I was sent a set of books and study materials. I had an online instructor that was very helpful.  Once I completed the course, I did an internship.  The internship was very grueling, but I got through it. I am now an MT working from home.  Most of the time I work at my kitchen table on my lap top. Thank you Med Workshops. Alice

It was important for me to find a work from home job. I had been taking care of my elderly mother for just less than two years and it was taking a toll on my finances. I’ve always been interested in the medical field so medical transcription seemed to be the perfect fit for me and my situation. I did some research and decided on Med Workshops Medical Transcription School because they had a great reputation and great rating with the Better Business Bureau. I completed the course and internship within eight months and I am happily working for the MT Company I interned with. I am so pleased to be able to work from home while taking care of my mother. Med Workshops Medical Transcription has been the answer to my prayers. Barbara

I wanted to work from home because we have two small children and my husband is in the military. We do not have much money and it would not be reasonable for me to put the kids in daycare to try and work outside the home. I heard Med Workshops Medical Transcription Training program was the best and was reasonably priced. I really enjoyed the online course. I have always been interested in the medical field and so has my husband. He would help me study sometimes in the evenings after the kids went to bed. Once I completed the course and six week internship I started working as a medical transcriptionist. I love my job and so happy I have it. We will be changing bases next month and I will be able to take my job with me anywhere I go! I would recommend Med Workshops Online School to any military wives wanting to have a job they can take anywhere and work from home. Kathie

I was very happy with my training I received from Med Workshops Medical Transcription Training. The program was very complete. I really felt ready when I started internship. I’m so glad I had the internship; it really prepared me for working from home as an MT. I love being able to work from home and keep my daughter out of daycare. I would recommend Med Workshops Online School to anyone wanting to work from in Medical Transcription. Marie

I wanted to become a medical transcriptionist and work from home. I found a lot of online courses out there, but I wanted a course that would actually get me into a job. The only one I could find with internship and job placement was Med Workshops Medical Transcription School. Everything I read about Med Workshops Medical Transcription Online Training was very positive. I got started in the program and did well. The internship was a little harder then I thought it would be, but I got so much out of it and I am now happy to say working from home as a medical transcriptionist typing the same doctor’s dictations as I did during my internship. I’m very pleased with the school I chose. Gayle

I graduated from one of the real popular schools that has an online program. I liked the school and I thought the material I studied was thorough. I did try for a year to get a job in Medical Transcription. Unfortunately, I could not pass the MT tests. I’d say my biggest problem was due to punctuation. I guess I didn’t get enough training in this area.  I spent a lot of time trying to retrain myself on re-typing and transcribing from my school recordings and manuals, as well as spending a lot of money on grammar books. I kept getting errors on punctuation and formatting and could never pass the employer typing tests in order to get a job. Punctuation in medical transcription is almost completely different from normal use. I have always been an excellent English student during my high school education. Therefore, to consistently fail tests due to Punctuation and Formatting caused me to just give up. I was typing over 55 wpm on my employer tests and at school. Then other companies would not mark me down for doing this.  I was frustrated by the inconsistencies of test results and transcription styles within the industry. I was looking at chat sites and saw someone in my same position had completed a course with Med Workshops Medical Transcription Finish Up Course with Internship and was now working from home as a medical transcriptionist. I enrolled a week later and completed the course in 3 months. I wish I would have found Med Workshops in the first place because I feel their course was so much more complete and the internship and job placement was what is needed to get into medical transcription. Thank you Med Workshops! Tanya

My mom and I enrolled in Med Workshops Medical Transcription Training Program together. We thought we could help each other and that it would be fun. I was great studying with my mom, but it was a lot harder then I thought it would be. We completed the course together on time. My mom did her internship first and I did mine after her so she could help out with my kids. We are both working as MT’s for the company we interned with. I type for a cardiologist and my mom types for an OB-GYN and pediatrician. My sister is planning on enrolling with Med Workshops Medical Transcription School once she gets her tax return check back. I would recommend Med Workshops to anyone wanting a good stable work from home job with lots of work! Tina

I had been a nurse for 25 years. The work got to be so hard on my back that I had to retire. Once I retired I wanted to find part-time work, but stay in the medical field.  I found a great online Medical Transcription course with Med Workshops.  I knew it would be easy for me, but was surprised by some aspects of it.  Punctuation, spelling and formatting were not all that easy.  I really enjoyed studying from home. I was sent a set of books and study materials. I had a personal online instructor that was very helpful.  Once I completed the course, I did an internship with a company I knew from my work at the hospital.  The internship was hard, but I got through it fine. I am now an MT working from home.  Most of the time I work at my kitchen table on my lap top. I love working at my kitchen table it is so sunny and bright and the heart of my home.  Thank you Med Workshops. Mary

I wanted to be able to work from home, so I could be home with our children and still bring in income to help with the family budget. We have three kids and putting them in daycare if I was to work outside of the home would not be feasible, financially for us. I had heard great things about Med Workshops and their medical transcription online training program. Med Workshops is the only medical transcription school that has internship and job placement. My in-laws give us the program for Christmas. It was the best gift they could have given us. I have now completed the course with internship. I have been working as an MT for three months now. My husband and kids were very supportive during all the hours of study. I feel very blessed to have had the opportunity.  Trisha

I choose Med Workshops Medical Transcription Online Training program because my mother and aunt both took their medical training program in the past and said it was the best out there with internship and job placement. The training was very complete. My instructor was very knowledgeable and helpful. I completed the program on time and went into internship after that. The internship was hard, but I learned a lot from it. I was very glad I did the internship before actually working as an MT.  Jeff

I have been a stay at home more for the last six years. Once my twin daughters started school I wanted to slowly get back into the work force. A friend of mine does medical transcription from her home. I was really interested in what she did, so one afternoon I went over to her house and she showed me her home office. All she really had was a small deck and chair, computer with internet connection, ear phones, foot pedal, and a few reference books. I went back home and started searching online for a good school. There were so many to choose from. I started reading reviews from different websites and the BBB. One school stood out! Med Workshops Medical Transcription Online Course with Internship and Job Placement. They had good reviews and a good rating with the BBB as well. After discussing it with my husband I enrolled. I completed the course in a little over six months. My six week internship was hard, but I got through it fine. I’m now working part time for the interning company and loving what I do. I pretty much do all my work while my girls are in school, sometimes I finish up the last little bit after I get them off to bed. This has been a great way for me to ease back into the work force and still be a stay at home mom for my girls. I would recommend Med Workshops Medical Transcription Online School to anyone needing a job and wanting to work from home. Lynda

My story is a little different I think, but maybe not. My husband and I live in a vacation community in the NW. We can actually only reside here 10 months out of the year. That works well for us, because we like to travel in our motor home down to Arizona at least two months out of the year. My husband does handyman work and can always find work here and in Arizona. I was a nurse before retiring because of arthritis in my knees, so finding work in both places is not possible. I love to type so I decided I would train to become a medical transcriptionist. With my nursing background I breezed through the course. I chose Med Workshops Online Medical Transcription Course because they had internship, job placement and an excellent reputation. I have never been sorry. Now I’m working for the company I interned with. I love my job. Even on the trip down and back in the motor home I can download my work at coffee shops or wherever there is an internet connection. I type it up while my husband is driving and I upload it back up to the site at the next stop. It’s a great reason to leave all the driving to my husband! Thank you Med Workshops!  Elaine

The reason I chose Med Workshops Medical Transcription Online Training Program is I am a real home body. I am not all that comfortable leaving my home for every long. I was able to train, intern and now work from home. My family is very proud of me now that I am able to support myself. This has worked out ideally for me and my situation.  Laurie

I am the single parent of a special needs child. Working at home sounded like the perfect fit for me. I had heard great things about Med Workshops Medical Transcription Online Training Program from some trusted websites, so I decided that was the program for me. I enrolled and received the first half of my study materials within a couple of weeks. I got started with the reading and really enjoyed it. I did a lot better then I expected. I was never a great student in public school; I graduated from my local high school with a “b” average. I found studying medical transcription a lot more enjoyable then high school. Once I completed the main part of the course I was ready for internship. I was no nervous to go into internship. My mentor was wonderful however,  the six week internship flew by and before I know it I was working as an MT for the company I interned with. This was the best choice for my son and myself.  I would recommend Med Workshops and their training program in Medical Transcription.  Joann

I wanted to share with you how much I appreciate all you and everyone at Med Workshops have done for me. I was very nervous to go back to school after all these years, but all the support and helpful instruction I received during my course and internship was the best. I knew once I started the course I had picked the very best Medical Transcription Training Course for me!   Sheila

I was very please with the Medical Transcription Online Training Course with Internship I took at Med Workshops. I received a great set of books and study materials that will also be a good as reference materials in the future. I really learned how to utilize online search engines well. The response time from my instructor was great. I am now waiting to start my internship.  I have learned so much about the medical field and have really enjoyed it! Mandy

We live in a very remote rural area in Alaska. My husband takes our seaplane to work and is sometimes gone a few days at a time. I have tried to make a little money in the past by trying to sell my backed goods, eggs, etc…Sadly, I had pretty much given up on trying to have any kind of job or make any kind of income outside the family home. When my daughter who I home school was about 12 she showed very high academic skills and started talking about going to college someday. I wanted this for her so badly, but I new any kind of college tuition would not be in our budget. Thinking of ways to get the money to pay for our daughter’s future started consuming me. I started scanning the internet for ideas. I found some work-from-home websites, they talked about jobs mothers like me could do from home over the internet. One of the jobs was medical transcription. I spent a good month researching medical transcription online training and schools. It seemed to me there was a big variety in levels of training and the costs of these courses. I talked it over with my husband, he didn’t mind paying for my training, but he wanted to make sure the training I did receive would be enough to get me hired. I did more searching on the internet and found our answer! Med Workshops Medical Transcription Training with Internship and Job Placement. Med Workshops had wonderful reviews and the job placement was just what I was looking for. I enrolled the next day. I finished the course on time, completed my internship with flying colors! I have now been working as an MT for the company I interned with for the past four years. I am able to put a very nice amount of money into a college fund for my daughter’s future college tuition. I can’t tell you how good it makes me feel to be making real paychecks and be able to fund my daughter’s dream of going to college. My husband is so proud of me and I’m proud of myself. Med Workshops and Medical Transcription has changed our family’s life for the better. Thank you so much!  Rose

I heard about Med Workshops Medical Transcription Training Program from a military mom’s work-from-home news letter our base puts out. It sounded ideal for me. Something I could learn and do online from home and once I finish, I can do the job from anywhere, its all done over the internet and from home. I had never heard about this kind of career before, but I sounded perfect for me and my family’s situation. I researched Med Workshops online school and found out they had an excellent rating with the BBB (Better Business Bureau). Med Workshops also had great reviews on several forums, blogs and chat sites. This was important to me because my sister was scammed last year by a diploma mill that gave her basic training and talked a good talk, but when it came time to get a job once she had completed the course they were of little to no help. She was never able to land a job in the field she was trained to do by this school. I completed my course at Med Workshops and the internship.  I’m happy to say now I proudly working from home while being able to taking care of my kids. I have been so pleased with Med Workshops I referred 6 other military moms I know to them. We love you Med Workshops!  Tiffany

I had been retired for a little over a year and wanted to find something to do part time. My husband had taken up wood carving, so he spent long hours out in his shop creating all kinds of carved animals, boots, etc… I had no idea what I wanted to do. I had been a nurse before retiring, so something in the medical field would be preferable. A friend of mine told me about a work-from-home job her granddaughter was doing. Medical transcription! I new a little about medical transcription from my nursing days. The more I looked into medical transcription, the better it looked to me.  I spoke to my girlfriend’s granddaughter over the phone one afternoon and she told me all about the medical transcription course she took and all about the medical transcription online school she enrolled in. The online school was called Med Workshops and it included internship and job placement. (At my age, job placement sounded great!) She gave me the website and phone number, I enrolled right away. Now I have completed the course and internship. I am now working from home for the company I interned with. I love my new career, it fits my life perfectly. I’m here doing my thing, able to stop and make my husband lunch and sit with him and then pick back up where I left off. I love making extra money to spoil our grandkids and the vacations my husband and I have grown to love. I would recommend Med Workshops online medical transcription school to anyone wanting to work from home and especially nurses.  Donna

I decided I wanted a job I could do from home. I have a special needs child and found out quickly that it would not work to put him in daycare. I did a lot of research on the internet and decided medical transcription would be a good fit for me. I love to type and really enjoy the medical field. I wanted to find the best online course for the money and I had done enough research to know internship was a must.

I found Med Workshops when I Googled internship. Med Workshops Medical Transcription Online Training with Internship also had job placement. I was so excited that I enrolled that day. My new online instructor sent me a welcome email right away. My first set of study materials came within about 12 days. I started out with a bang! I moved through the first half of the study materials quickly. My son was sick for a bit and that did delay my studies some, but within no time I was back on track. I was very nervous for to take the typing tests, but they turned out fine and I passed all four on schedule.  I started internship soon after that. Internship went by quickly; it was difficult at first, but by the end of the internship I was building more confidence and was completing my work quicker. Now I’ve been working as an MT for four months now and I love it. It gives me the freedom to stay home with my son and yet I still bring in an income to help the family. I would recommend Med Workshops Medical Transcription Training to anyone wanting to work from home like I did.  Mary Beth

I didn’t know what to do after graduating high school. I just could not make up my mind. I tried getting a job, but with the way the economy is no one was hiring.  After 6 months of unsuccessful job hunting the mother of a friend of mine told me about Med Workshops Medical Transcription Training.  She had completed their training program a few years back and was now working as a medical transcriptionist for the company they interned and placed her with. She said there was plenty of transcription work and I should enroll.  I called the next day. I am now over half way through the course and loving it. Online training is different than high school ever was. I am finding the subject so interesting and I can’t wait to get into internship and working as a medical transcriptionist. I’m so glad I found out about Med Workshops Medical Transcription Online Training.  Misty

My training experience with Med Workshops Medical Transcription Online Training course was wonderful. My only regret is I didn’t do it sooner!  I found the training to be very complete, easy to follow and extremely organized and very up to date with the medical transcription company I did my internship and was placed with.

I am now happily working as an MT for this company and loving it! I work Monday – Friday, from my home office, usually in my PJ’s. I feel like I have the best “green job” ever.

Thank you Med Workshops!  Christy

I decided to enroll in Med Workshops Medical Transcription program because my aunt had completed the program a few years back and recommended it to me. I was a little fearful at first. I have always had to work hard to get good grades in school and I new the same would go for medical transcription.  Right from the start my instructor was wonderful. She told me to not get bogged down by the grammar section of my training. She said it would come with time and she was right. She told me to move forward quickly and that I could always come back later for review. Her advice was encouraging. I did move forward quickly and went back frequently for review.  Unexpectedly in the end I felt like my training became second nature. My aunt was right when she told me to choose Med Workshops Online Medical Transcription School. I’m so glad I did. Thank you to everyone at Med Workshops!  Gayle

I had thought about a work-from-home career in the past, but was unsure how to get started, what to do to get into one and how successful it would be.  After a long time of looking into Med Workshops and medical transcription in general, I decided that it would be a good choice for me and my family.  I had been previously working in a job that was pretty much was going no where. with no where to move up and no way to make any more money.  I knew I needed to make a decision to either change and do something different or continue on the same go nowhere work path.  Medical transcription appealed to me because of the fact that it was a train-from home, work-from-home career with the ability to be in control of what you earn based off the work you do.  I also liked the fact that the training program was work at your own pace because of my kids schedules.  It was a hard journey, but well worth it. Enrolling in Med Workshops Medical Transcription Training program was the best thing I could have done for my career and my family.  Lori

I enrolled in Med Workshops medical transcription school and found he training was very intense, but laid out very well.  My goal to finish in six months studying full time, it was a challenge.  I enjoyed taking the anatomy and physiology class as well as the terminology class as I found them both to be very interesting learning new words and learning how medical terms are made out of root words.  The typing class portion of the training gives you real experience of what it will be like in the field to make a report look exactly the way the template looks, and it teaches you to listen for words to really be sure of what the dictator is saying.  With each typing test, I felt like I became a little bit more confident.  Next was the internship, which was a nice gradual step into the MT field.  I am not sure how comfortable I would have felt jumping right in as a paid MT, but with the internship and mentor, it gives you much more field training from someone who is working as an MT.  The tips and advice my mentor gave me were extremely helpful for my accuracy and productivity, and I really feel that without that step, it would have been much harder to get started in the field.  Working in the field has shown how competitive it is.  The need for accuracy is absolutely critical, and a lot of researching is involved.  Making sure to read every book and do all the exercises during the text training is extremely important as I have found when you hear a doctor dictate a word or a condition, your brain goes back to what you learned in school.  Overall I feel that it is a very exciting field, and I have loved learning to work from home.  Also, all of the medical knowledge I have gained is so valuable, and I know that I will just keep building on that knowledge.  I look forward to gaining more confidence as I go as each step of the way I have become a little bit more confident. I am thankful for all of Med Workshops help and support along the way!  Jennifer

I decided to become a medical transcriptionist after I gave birth to my three child; I quit my job of 10 years in real estate. I then decided that I needed to earn an extra income and working from home as a medical transcriptionist seemed like the perfect solution. I never heard of Med Workshops before until I searched for schools on the Internet. After reading about the courses and how Med Workshops offers an internship, I knew that was the school for me. The school provided me with all of the tools that I needed to successfully complete the course. I had never taken an online class before, so this was really new for me. It was wonderful being able to study at my own pace and takes exams and schedule typing tests when I had free time. My course instructor was wonderful and so was my internship mentor. I have been working as a medical transcriptionist for five months now, and I really love what I do. It takes some time initially with balancing a brand new career and my family, which includes three small children, but it gets easier every week. I would definitely recommend Med Workshops to anyone interested in a career as a medical transcriptionist.  Monica

When I first began my studies with Med Workshops I did not know what to expect. I have been out of the work force for 10 years while raising my three children.  I was worried about fitting the course work into my days and I was most worried about typing since I have never done much typing.  I actually loved the information that I was studying. It did help that I have a background in Medical Technology so some of the information and terminology was a review for me. But there was plenty of information that was new and I enjoyed learning it. I loved that I was able to study at my own pace and fit it in around my daughter’s preschool schedule. I was initially concerned about taking the tests after each section, but I soon realized that the tests were as much about "finding the answer" as it was about knowing the answer. It became clear to me along the way that these tests were helping to build my research skills which will be invaluable as a medical transcriptionist.

My typing skills have improved dramatically since that first dictation. I know I have a long way to go, but I can feel my technique improving each time I type a report, and I am starting to get into a groove. I know that as I continue on to internship and employment, my skills will just keep improving. As I wait for my internship to start, I feel excitement for the day when I can earn money from my own home and create my own work schedule. I know it will be an uphill battle to start but I know working from home is the best choice for me. I won't have to juggle my life when my children have a  sick day or when we have an unexpected snow day. My experience with Med Workshops has given me the basis for my new career at home!  Sheila

After being laid off from my current job, I found out through the unemployment office that I qualified for retraining.  I had always wanted to work in the medical field, but at my age I did not want to be in school for much more the one year. I have always loved to type so I decided on becoming a medical transcriptionist. Medical transcription seemed to be a good fit for me. Med Workshops was one of the many schools I researched. Not only do they utilize the comprehensive SUM Program, they also provide mentored externship and guaranteed job placement upon successful completion of the course. Med Workshops provided a solid curriculum along with great advice about pushing forward and not getting bogged down with memorization. I still have a lot to learn, and the first year will be lean, but I have enjoyed my time so far. I’m currently working hard ramping up my speed and look forward to where this career will take me in the future. Kari

I had a real good experience with Med Workshops online medical transcription course I took. As a mom with small children at home I could work at my own pace. The course was very challenging. There were nights I dreamed about medical transcription and becoming a medical transcriptionist. I think that is what kept me going, that and wanting to stay home for the next few years with my children. The internship was very intense. My mentor was wonderful and very knowledgeable in medical transcription.  I got helpful comments and tips all through my internship. I would love to meet my mentor someday. I am now working as and independent contractor for a great medical transcription company. I couldn’t be happier with my choice in medical transcription online course with internship.  Mary

My experience with Med Workshops Medical Transcription Online Course has been great! As a mom with three small children I loved the ability to work at my own pace and have a flexible schedule. I was able to get my studying and work done on my time. The course itself was very rigorous and challenging, that is what made me love it. Being a very detail oriented person and someone who continually needs a challenge; it was just what I needed. Every person I have come in contact with from Med Workshops has been there for me as needed, with quick response, and always willing to help me learn. Everyone has been very helpful and you can tell the desire they have to help you succeed. I see the future in Medical Transcription can take me as far as I would like to go, meaning it is what I put into it! If I want to become better, it is up to me, but I know there is room to grow in this career. The internship was a great experience, very intense, but a great way to learn as you go and become a transcriptionist with help from the experts along the way. My goal is to strive to be one of those experts that helped me along the way. They give you helpful criticism as needed and helpful comments to keep you going at the same time. I am able to fit work into my busy life and also enjoy the time with my children that I have longed for. I would recommend Med Workshops to anyone going into Medical Transcription. Susan

My study day usually started at about 6 a.m. in my pajamas at home. I would start a little early to get some reading done before I start my home chores.  I would also log in to my email to check for my instructor’s messages.  Usually, my instructor is clear and easy to understand, but sometimes I ran into areas I had trouble with.  Often it would involve new subjects I learned.  In these cases, I used my available medical references which are many.  I used both printed and online sources to try to find an answer or clarify what the instructor told me.  I always felt a great deal of satisfaction knowing I was learning something big and important.  This was always a great way to start my day.  In general, my days as a student were occupied with reading and or analyzing medical subjects in order to finish my training assignments. These daily tasks could vary from being very simple to quite complex. Studying new subjects would often be like understanding new medical puzzles. I felt a great deal of personal reward from being able to follow all of the mental juggling required.  I haven’t studied a subject as large as this before in a while.  Of course, it was comforting to know my instructor was there to support me. I loved all of the growth I felt from succeeding at my training.  Medical transcription study has been stimulating.  I’m sure my career will feel rewarding in more ways than just earning a living.  I’m happy knowing a career in medical transcription will make a big difference to me and my young family. Thank you Med Workshops I don’t feel I could have done it without you!  Beth

I wanted to make my living in healthcare where I could be secure and, if possible, I wanted to work from home.  I was in the Real Estate industry for 23 years when the economy went bad and I lost my job.  A good friend suggested getting into the medical field because it would be recession proof.  I decided on becoming a Medical Transcriptionist.  I checked into many different Medical Transcription courses and found that there were big differences in the amount of training they provided. Some courses were merely an introduction on the subject and some were far more complete in the amount of training they produced.  I also found there were big differences in the pricing for these courses. I also searched the Medical Transcription forums.  I took it all in, but discovered privately from a forum poster that most of the forums are run by Medical Transcription schools.  After that, I took most forums with a grain of salt.

I chose Med Workshops for my training.  I chose them because of their internship plan.  It turned out internship saved me.  I received seven big books, a foot pedal and some software with the doctor dictation on it.  Boy did I mark up my textbooks!  I’m sure glad I still have them for research.  I followed the course outline working through my study material at my own pace.  My instructor was helpful, knowledgeable and always there for me.  However, I also discovered that learning all of this at 45 was really hard.  I received some practice software and I was able to actually practice typing hundreds of chart notes. The actual act of listening to and typing a real doctor’s dictation really built my confidence in Medical Transcription.  I got to do this in the comfort of my own home.  I’d have been embarrassed to try to do this study in a public classroom. My Medical Transcription training has given me the freedom to work from home.  Terri

When we make this move, I will have to start building a clientele in a new town all over again.

At that point, I felt confident in picking the only school with a mentored internship and job placement.- Med Workshops. Julie

I wanted to thank you and everyone at Med Workshops for everything you've done for me. When I enrolled in your medical transcription program I was very nervous, but I wanted to work from home as a medical transcriptionist so badly. I have three small children and it’s very difficult to find a good daycare that is also affordable.

I received so much one on one instruction and support from my instructor and everyone I came in contact with at Med Workshops. The training was very thorough, the materials are great. I am now waiting to start my internship and I am very excited to be working from home and not having to put my three kids in daycare. Thank you again, Carrie

I was unemployed when I became pregnant. It was an unplanned pregnancy, which added to the stress of the situation. I am a single mother, and I was currently going to school online to become a medical transcriptionist. Once my daughter arrived, I never stopped going to school, but my personality type does better with a schedule. So, once I completed my online course and started working as a medical transcriptionist I kept a schedule even though I work from home. Once I started working, I had more energy and wanted to make sure that I did certain activities with my daughter every day.  Working from home allows me to do that and so much more. I am very happy about the money I save on daycare also. I would recommend Med Workshops Medical Transcription Training program to anyone that would like to work from home. I believe it is the best out there. I loved the transition from my internship into job placement, it was wonderfully smooth and pain free.  Jenny

I'm a 39 year old mother of 4. My "children" are now 13, 15, 18, and 19. Memories are still vivid. When my daughters were born, I was privileged to stay at home. My circumstances changed later, with a second marriage, and I had 2 boys. After maternity leave of 6 months, I had to go back to work and it broke my heart.

I decided I was going to find a work from home job. I did a search on the internet and found a medical transcription training program with internship and job placement. It was all done from home. I enrolled. It was hard. I had to study in the evenings and weekends, but I did complete the course and am happy to say working from home as a medical transcriptionist. I love it! My only regret is I should have done it sooner. Mary

My name is Gina. I’m a thirty-five year old stay at home mother of three. I’ll tell you my story about medical transcription training. My goal was to make money while working from home because the closest big city with decent jobs was more than a 90 minute drive from my home. I was searching for work I could do from home. I had a neighbor a few years ago who worked from home typing medical reports for a local doctor’s office.  When searching on the internet I found medical transcriptionists could actually work from home typing for any doctor or clinic. Everything was done over the internet so I could work for almost any company in the U.S. This seemed like the perfect solution to my work goal. I was very excited about this prospect. I made up my mind I was going to become a Medical Transcriptionist. My next step was to find a school teaching this subject. This posed a new problem.  The closest community college was over 90 minutes away.  I went back to the internet and searched for a resolution to this latest hurdle.

I found it! Online training over the internet and it could all be done from home. This was the best news!   While I was researching this training on the internet, I found out many companies wanted their MTs to have at least two years’ experience in medical transcription. Another problem! I found the answer to my latest dilemma of needing two years’ experience was internship. Unfortunately, I found there are not many online courses that have real internships, but I did find one. This school sounded like what I was looking for. Med Workshops medical transcription training with internship.I talked it over with my husband that night and enrolled the next day.  Within 10 days I received my first set of study materials and was diving into this new subject. The subject was difficult, but I did love it and refused to give up on my dream of working from home.  I completed the program including the internship in September. The internship was harder at first than I thought it would be, but it was easier as I moved along.

I graduated on time. I am now working from home as a medical transcriptionist for the company I interned with.  It feels great to be able to help provide for my children and help take some of the financial pressure off of my husband, without having to add the expense and time of a 90 minute commute to work and back each day.  I feel very fortunate and blessed to have found this new career.  Gina

I decided to start medical transcription training because I wanted a job that I could work at home. I had recently got married and realized how much work it is to keep a house hold up. So I quit my job and started looking for something to do at home. I went to a seminar about medical transcribing and had actually signed up with a school. I was excited but a little anxious knowing that it is hard to get a job once you have training. I looked into some more information and found someone that had went to Med Workshops and said about how they had the mentored internship program, which basically guarantees you a job if you work hard.

I then signed up with Med Workshops and do not regret it. I now have been working for just about three months and I am enjoying my job. Now the company that I work for and I are in two different time zones so I do not get my work until late morning. On a normal day I get up do things around the house and keep an eye on the computer and then once I see that my work has arrived for the day I sit down and spend a couple hours doing my work. I would definitely recommend this job to anyone who enjoys being at home, making some money, and likes the thought of owning there own business.  Shelly

US Career Institute has their own three-ring binder "textbooks." I received two for the lessons and one for anatomy and physiology, though that may be different now because I was told by a guidance counselor that they revised the course after I enrolled. I am sure that the anatomy and physiology binder is some kind of dumbed-down version of textbooks for nurses or some other medical profession. There is also a word list "flashcard" which consists of a paper with words and definitions on it and a card stock sleeve that has this window setup where the word is in one window and the definition is in the other window. (That was all well and good while you were in the lessons where they still typed out the definitions for you but was completely impractical when you got to the lessons where they started having you look them up and write them down.

The definitions no longer fit in the windows, so I spent hours and hours on making 3 x 5 note cards.) I made my own skinny binder with copies of the report format sheets, doctor/patient lists for the report assignments, and the one sheet with normal lab result values on it so that I could find the necessary information for the assignments more easily. I also put the printed out copies of my reports there. The dictations were all on audio tapes (though they do use lots of ESL doctors from different countries), so Med Workshops provided my very first opportunity to use a foot pedal and headset. Not everything was bad about the course, but it really felt like they left some things out. Certainly I have received much more typing practice, practice with different types of reports, and more practice with practical application of medical terms with Med Workshops than I ever did with US Career Institute. They repeated over and over in the course that you didn't have to memorize the definitions of all of the medical terms but that you did need to know how to spell them. However, I have found in my reading since and in practical application with typing out the reports that having at least a general knowledge of where to find a particular body part is extremely helpful.

They were also sticklers about following their exact format to the point of rearranging headings and subheading in the correct order if the doctor dictated them out of order. I just didn't feel prepared to work in the field and couldn't find work after a month of looking despite the fact that the Career Institute tallied my final grade as 96% (not sure how they calculated that because I thought it should have been lower based upon the grades on my individual assignments. I still had grades of mostly 90% or greater; I just felt they were generous in the final tally.).

I have been using Google a lot. Actually, I typed "thin-shave biopsy" and "thin shave biopsy" into Google during my test and received more hits for "thin shave" which was why I typed it that way on the final copy that I sent to you despite having typed it with a hyphen to start out. Honestly, there are least five points that I missed because of second-guessing myself.  Janette

After I was unexpectedly laid off from my current job, I had an opportunity for retraining. I was on unemployment in Washington State  and I found a program called Workforce. This program was able to pay my tuition as long as I kept my grades good and studied regularly. This time I wanted to pick my new career rather than have it pick me. I’ve always really liked typing and have an interest in the human body and working independently.  I do have an incredible eye for detail and it has really been helpful.

Medical transcription seemed to be a good fit for me. Med Workshops was one of the many schools I researched. Not only do they use the comprehensive SUM Program, they also provide mentored internship and job placement upon successful completion of their Medical Transcription course.

I have not been able to find any other school offering that. From the start, Med Workshops provided a solid curriculum along with great advice about pushing forward and not getting bogged down with memorization. By the time I got started in internship, my coursework had prepared me fully. By the time I completed my internship, I had real work experience under my belt and was really ready to make the transition to an independent contractor. I have learned so much and I know I still have a lot more to learn, and the first year will be more leaning, but I have enjoyed everything so far. I’m currently working hard upping my speed and look forward to my new career. Chris

I graduated college in 2003 with a BS in social work.  After several years of struggling with low-paying, high-stress positions, I made the decision to enroll in a medical transcription training program, as I have always been interested in the healthcare field and wanted a  career that would be flexible for my family life. When I was exploring medical transcription programs, I was automatically drawn to the Med Workshops Bright Start program due to the Mentored Internship and job placement services.  I was so tired of sending out resume after resume and hoping for a return email, often to no avail.  Med Workshops really seemed like a no-brainer.

Med Workshops has turned out to be exactly what I was wanting in a training program.  The education is top notch, and the one-on-one instruction has been so supportive and encouraging. I am beginning my Mentored Internship.  I am happy to say that for the first time in a long time, I feel confident that I have made the right choice for myself and my family.  I am so excited to be able to help provide for my family while being a professional in the healthcare field.  Trudy

Today is my last day of internship, and I have learned so much! My schooling through Med Workshops prepared me well for the real world of transcription.  The mentored internship provided me with valuable training also. Merle was so helpful with tips to make the transcription go faster and she always had a lot of good encouragement. I look forward to my continued relationship with TNI! Thank you, Kris

I started seeing discussions on Med Workshops and how they offered internship after successfully completing their course. I went to the website and took a look. It also offered a refresher course especially if you were someone who had just completed a medical transcription school and needed the quick course and then into internship. I thought, all right. I will check into this. I sent an email off to the school administrator and inquired about the refresher course.

I have to say that I surely wish that I could have found Med Workshops first before the previous school. But, I didn't. The courses at this school was so much more detailed and just excellent. I learned so much more from them than I had from the previous school. The instructors are real gems. They are the very best. They are always there to help with questions or concerns. The previous school was only there on certain hours and never on weekends. They would not supply me with a private email for one on one for any of the instructors. I never talked to the same instructor twice. With Med Workshops, I got assigned an instructor that saw me through everything. I only have the highest praise for this school and would recommend it to anyone looking to become an MT.

Once you decide you want to do something hang in there and keep striving towards your dreams. Keep your head held high and be proud of all you can accomplish for yourself. I have learned so much and have become a much stronger person through it all.   Cathy

We like to move around every few years to find new adventures and experience different places. I was at a point in my life where I was making yet another career change due to circumstances beyond my control.  I had heard about working as a Medical Transcriptionist from home and it made me realize that with my previous medical experience and knowledge it would work perfect for me, and no matter where we move to I would not have to worry about finding another job.

It took me several weeks of research to weed out a program that I felt was not only a good fit for me but was also legit. I felt that Med Workshops would provide me with the knowledge that I would need to be a Medical Transcriptionist but would also help me with obtaining a lifelong career. My journey with Med Workshops has taken longer than normal because of all I’ve had going on over this past year. One of the reasons it took me so long was because I read all of the material a couple things multiple times, worked on all of the material on the CD’s, websites, and in the books just to ensure that I was comprehending the material. After taking some of the tests it made me wonder, did I really need to read it all? In the long run, I know reading all of the material will be beneficial to me as I know there will be times when something will come up and I will be able to sit back and say “I remember reading that.”

There have been many times when I have sat back and said that I will never be able to get this, maybe I wasn’t cut out to be a Medical Transcriptionist. The SUM CD did help me to get a feel of what it will be like when working as a Medical Transcriptionist. I thought diversity of doctors compiled on the CD also gave me a good perspective of different dialects and accents that I may encounter while working. I feel that without the support of my family and the instructor(s) I would not have continued to push myself through the program.

I feel that the program has provided me with everything that I will need to have a successful career as a Medical Transcriptionist. Not only will working at home as a Medical Transcriptionist be exciting and stable, but it will provide me with the freedom to be around more for my family than working a 9 to 5 job and allow us to continue our adventures of exploring new places since I can work from anywhere. Thank you Med Workshops! From Paula

I was very happy with the Medical Transcription Online Training Course with Internship I took at Med Workshops. I received a great set of books that will also be a great resource in the future. I really learned how to utilize Google, Wikipedia and other online sites.

The response time from my instructor was great. I am now hoping I do very well in internship and will be working as an MT very soon. I have learned so much about the medical field and have thoroughly enjoyed it! By Danny

I had a great experience with the online medical transcription course I took at Med Workshops. As a mom with small children at home I could work at my own pace. I did most of my studying during naptime and after bedtime.  The course was very challenging. There were nights I dreamed about medical transcription and becoming a medical transcriptionist. I think that is what kept me going, that and wanting to stay home for the next few years with my children.

Originally I wanted to become a nurse, but the cost of a nursing program was just out of my family’s reach.  We are still paying off my husbands student loans.  The internship was very intense. My mentor was wonderful and very knowledgeable in medical transcription.  I received helpful comments and tips all through my internship. I would love to be a mentor someday. I am now working as and independent contractor for a great medical transcription company. I couldn’t be happier with my choice in medical transcription online course with internship. Elaine B.

I found that when taking the tests my background and training helped me tremendously by having an understanding of the information being dictated to me.  There was several times when I have though I will never be able to get this, maybe I wasn't cut out to be a Medical Transcriptionist. But I did complete the course and the internship. I am now working from home as a MT and I couldn't be happier. Thank you to everyone at Med Workshops!  Julia

I value the Medical Transcription Training
and internship I received online from Med Workshops training course I took. As a result of the professional and informative teaching style presented by the instructors and mentors,  I did very well with the comfortable at ease feeling my instructor provided. I was able to complete the entire Medical Transcription Online Course at home working at my own pace. I found the medical terminology and physical anatomy very very interesting. I now work from home as a Medical Transcriptionist part time. I will be going to full time as soon as my two daughters are in school full time. Cathy

I decide to look at becoming a Medical Transcriptionist after having our first child. I had always had an interest in medicine, but wanted to work from home to raise our son. I started my medical transcription online course at Med Workshops when my son was just three months old. I loved how I could work at my own pace. My mother helped out a lot and so did my husband.

By the time we celebrated our son's first birthday, I was getting ready to start my internship. I completed my internship within six weeks and started working as an MT as soon as I was done. My husband was so proud of me. My husband and my father-in-law fixed up our extra bedroom with a desk where I could do all my work. My Medical Transcription Training and Internship certificate hangs on the wall by my desk. I have now been working as an MT for four years and we are expecting our third child. Training at Med Workshops and becoming a Medical Transcriptionist has greatly enriched my family's life.  Liz

I am a former Kaplan student. I spent a lot of money to be trained in Medical Transcription only to find now I am not able to find work. Their school was good, but every place I apply requires two+ years experience or an internship. I really want to work from home, that has been my intention since I first learned about medical transcription  five years ago and began studying for it.

For medical reference books, I have the following:

    1. Pharmacology Principles and Applications
    2. Essentials of Human Diseases and Conditions
    3. Structure and Function of the BodyMedical Transcription Fundamental
    4.  AHDI Book of Style for Medical Transcription
    5. Stedman's Skill Builders for Medical Transcription
    6. Introduction to Pharmacology

As a recent graduate, I have not worked with actual patient report templates other than those provided in examples in the Book of Style, but because of my education, I should be able to determine what information belongs where. I have applied to several other companies. In total I have applied to 34 companies. These companies included MedQuist, MedScribe, Landmark Transcription, Ubiqus, Precyse, and Nuance Transcription. Most of the companies I have applied to thus far have sent back automated e-mails stating that I do not meet their requirements because I am a recent graduate. Some have stated that they simply are not hiring now. When I applied to MedQuist, there was a skills exam. I did well on the first part of the assessment, scoring a 91. It was on the application part that I scored lower. They did not tell me exactly what I had done wrong in the second part of the assessment, so I'm really not sure where I went wrong. Karin

I am a graduate of XYZ University’s AHDI accredited medical transcription program and graduated. I transcribed reports for a variety of specialties including orthopedics, neurology, ophthalmology, obstetrics. The doctors that dictated these reports had a variety of accents. While training, I had transcribed several reports with 99% to 100% accuracy. The courses all followed the Book of Style. I studied very hard and spent a lot of money on my training and now am finding I can not find a job! Everyone wants two or more years experience or an internship. I was very lucky to have found an internship program. It’s called the Finish Up Course with Internship through Med Workshops. I am very excited and should start internship soon.  Jen

US Career Institute was my choice. I will compare it a little to the internship I received at Med Workshops. First USCI was pretty good and I learned quite a bit. USCI has their own three-ring binder textbooks.  I received two for the lessons and one for anatomy and physiology, though that may be different now because I was told by a guidance counselor that they revised the course after I enrolled. Here is the curriculum I received at US Career Institute:  I am sure that the anatomy and physiology binder is some kind of simplified version of textbooks for nurses or another medical profession.

I made binders with copies of the report format sheets, doctor/patient lists for the report assignments, and the one sheet with normal lab result values on it so that I could find the necessary information for the assignments more easily. I also put the printed out copies of my reports there. The dictations were all on audio tapes (though they do use lots of ESL doctors from different countries), so Med Workshops provided my very first opportunity to use a foot pedal and headset!

I have received much more typing practice, practice with different types of reports, and more practice with practical application of medical terms with Med Workshops than I did with US Career Institute - think this must be required because of the internship requirements. I still had grades of mostly 90% or greater.  I tried, passed, but couldn’t find a job. Frustrating after scoring 96%. I needed the additional training with internship at Med Workshops. Janet

I learned something very valuable from your video tutorial. I had no idea this tip would help me with everything I do while browsing; especially when logging on to a medical transcription secure site to download doctor files. Thank you so much! Training is excellent beyond my wildest hopes. Here is that great link for others. Now that I know it I have to share one little thing so many will benefit from.  Link  Thank you, Lisa.

Today is my last day of internship, and I have learned so much!   My training through Med Workshops prepared me well for the real world of transcription.  The mentored internship provided me with valuable training, too. Merle was so helpful with tips to make the transcription go faster and encouragement. I look forward to my continued relationship with the employer.   Thank you,  Susan

To Med Workshops- I did a lot of research before deciding on Med Workshops for my Medical Transcription training. I chose Med Workshops because of its internship and job placement program. I have completed the training and will begin my internship in a few days. I am looking forward to putting the knowledge and skills I have learned to use. The instructors I have had, Cindy and Kim, have been great.

I look forward to being able to work from home and be able to help support my family with the training I have received from Med Workshops. This is something I have been interested in for such a long time and I am so glad to have found a program that allowed me to work at home at my own pace and to be able to learn so much. I know I still have a lot of learning left to do, but look forward to achieving my dream of being a medical transcriptionist thanks to the great program offered me. I am very happy with the decision I made to change my life for the better.

I have always wanted something more than just a job. I wanted a career. I wanted to be happy with what I was doing, and believe that I now can be. I would refer anyone I know that is interested in this career to choose Med Workshops for their training. The instructors are great and very helpful. The material is very thorough. I would just like to say thank you to everyone at Med Workshops for the opportunity to work with you all.   Sincerely,  Kathy

Hi Cindy! - Toni is requesting that you find us another outstanding intern.

I just wanted to take a minute to tell you what a delight it has been to work with Jessa A - our previous intern from your school.  She has absolutely been a wonderful asset to our team and recently took on the responsibility of typing 3 providers for a urology clinic that came our way.  One of those providers has a very obvious Indian dialect and she has done brilliantly typing them, along with a busy dermatologist whom she had been typing for several months.  In January she broke the $1K/month income mark after little time on the job and was ecstatic about that!

It is a pleasure to see the fruits of dedicated learning and a sharp mind.  Find us another Jessa.  :)  Jan

Dear Med Workshops-  I graduated from another online Medical Transcription program. After graduating, I was not prepared well enough to find a job. I don’t want to give up the idea of medical transcription, as I love doing it. I am interested in the Make Up Class and an internship.  I have already invested countless hours and over  $5,000.00 already. I found it discouraging that I couldn’t pass the application tests. I so appreciate the chance your Make Up Class gave me to make my dream come true! Carol

Hi Carol- I’m responding to your request for info on our Finish Up Class.  I sympathize with you.  We do read stories like yours quite often I’m sorry to say.  We can help you!  It depends on what type of training you’ve received so far.  Please tell me about the school, when you graduated, the books you used, any online training, how much MT typing you did, etc.  Anything that helps us understand your situation.  We will then suggest some things.  We just need more info. Terry

"I completed a course at another school, but they only offer job assistance- resume writing. I feel like I have been left high and dry. I've paid a lot of money so far and would love to work in this field, but can't. I realize I need your internship training to be able to get a job. Can you help me?"  Kathy  We did help Kathy in our Finish Up Class and she is now an MT

I am so excited to be excepted into the Med Workshops Finish Up class program. I was so frustrated after I completed the other Medical Transcription Online Course I took from XYZ School and could not find work as an MT. I also wanted to compliment Med Workshops on their program. The information sent to me was very amazing and considerably more than what I received from the first set of classes that I took from XYZ... I spent last week practicing on some reports, just to get back in the swing of things, and this past weekend I have spent reading the material Med Workshops sent me.

Thank you so very much for allowing me to continue my education with your program.  I needed an internship so badly! Cheryal H.

My experience with Med Workshops has been great! As a mom with two small children I loved the ability to work at my own pace and have a flexible schedule.

If I want to become better it is up to me, but I know there is room to grow in this career. The internship was a great experience, very intense, but a great way to learn as you go and become a transcriptionist with help from the experts along the way. My goal is to strive to be one of those experts that helped me along the way. They give you helpful criticism as needed and helpful comments to keep you going at the same time. I ended up with a great team to work with. I am able to fit work into my busy life and also enjoy the time with my children that I have longed for. I would recommend Med Workshops to anyone going into Medical Transcription. Emily B.

When I first began my studies with Med Workshops I did not know what to expect. I have been out of the work force for 14 years while raising my four children. I was concerned that my brain was incapable of studying again!! I was worried about fitting the course work into my days and I was most worried about TYPING since I have never been a typist. What I found was that my brain was capable of studying again and that I actually loved the information that I was studying. It did help that I have a background in Medical Technology and Pharmacology, so some of the information and terminology  was a review for me. But there was plenty of information that was new and I enjoyed learning it. I loved that I was able to study at my leisure and fit it in around my son's preschool schedule. I was initially concerned about taking the tests after each section, but I soon realized that the tests were as much about "finding the answer" as it was about knowing the answer. It became clear to me along the way that these tests were helping to build my research skills which will be invaluable as a medical transcriptionist.

When I completed all of my studying, it was time for my most challenging task....the typing. I was so nervous when I typed my first dictation, and I was quite slow. My typing skills have improved dramatically since that first dictation. I know I have a long way to go, but I can feel my technique improving each time I type a report, and I am starting to get into a groove. I know that as I continue on to internship and employment, my skills will just keep improving. I have also learned through the typing portion of the course that format is important. The formats that we learn during the course are not as important as just being able to follow the format that you have been given by your employer.

I won't have to spend money on a new wardrobe and I can work in my PJs with a cup of coffee if I want!!! My experience with Med Workshops has given me the basis for my new career at home and I am very anxious to get started!!!  Stephanie R.

I was at a point in my life where I was making yet another career change due to circumstances beyond my control.  Having heard about working as a Medical Transcriptionist from home made me realize that with my previous medical experience and knowledge it would work perfect for me, and no matter where we move to I would not have to worry about finding yet another job. It took me several weeks of research to weed out a program that I felt was not only a good fit for me but I was also legit. I felt that Med Workshops would not only provide me with the knowledge that I would need to be a Medical Transcriptionist but help me with obtaining a lifelong career.

I found that when taking my transcription tests my trainings helped me tremendously by having an understanding of the information being dictated to me.  There have been many times when I have sat back and said that I will never be able to get this, maybe I wasn’t cut out to be a Medical Transcriptionist. Overall, I feel that the program has provided me with everything that I will need to have a successful career as a Medical Transcriptionist. Not only will working at home as a Medical Transcriptionist be exciting and stable, but it will provide me with the freedom to be around more for my family than working a 9 to 5 job and allow us to continue our adventures of exploring new places since I can work from anywhere! I am excited to begin my internship and start working!  Lena

I embarked on a new career at 40, with MED Workshops's medical transcription course.  It took me 18 months to complete, but true to their advertising, I was promptly employed upon graduation with high honors.  Its been 14 years since I quit my full-time job to start a family, and I have explored several different avenues for supplementing my husband's income, but nothing seemed to pan out very well.  I truly wish I could have found this career earlier.  It is a perfect fit for my interests and abilities, and it has just the right blend of structure and flexibility to keep me on track with work and family.  The people I have spoken to at MED Workshops are pleasant, helpful, and encouraging.  I know there are many different transcription courses out there, and a myriad of employment opportunities.  How fortunate for me that I enrolled with MED Workshops, because, amazingly enough, I secured an excellent education and a Medical Transcription to my career all at once when I made my decision to train with Med Workshops.  Thank you, MED Workshops and thanks to the Internship!  Hazel

I have had an interest in medical transcription for many years.  I found Med Workshops through an ad in my local newspaper.  I appreciate all the information that I received before I signed up and now, I really appreciate all the assistance, mentoring, answers to questions and, of course, the training that I have received throughout the course.  I feel prepared and ready to go out into the world and make an income to help support my family.  I now have the ability to work from my home as a medical transcriptionist.  Bridget was a great support and answered every question.  I would recommend this course to anyone looking for either a new career or a career change.  Doreen

At first, I was kind of hesitant, because it was an online class and I thought it would not be the same as a college course where you actually attend classes.  It actually turned out for the best.  I could do my course at my own pace, keeping in mind that I had up to one year to complete it.  When I needed help, MED Workshops' mentors had all the resources to answer my questions, and I never felt like I was out there alone - there was always someone to help me.  This course is ideal for all who plan on expanding their career, who did not have an opportunity to do so before they had children, and anyone who is interested in the medical field and working from home.  I would recommend this course to anyone who enjoys working in the medical field and wants to type medical reports.  Thank you, MED Workshops, for giving me this opportunity!  Harsheila

I really loved the flexibility of this schooling.  I have 3 kids at home, the youngest just 14 months, and I could study any time that I had a chance.  I loved that if I was wide awake at 4 in the morning after feeding my then 4 month old, I could just hop on the computer and study away.  The layout was great and easy to work through.  I have learned so much through this course.  Being a stay at home mom for the past 7 years, I really doubted my abilities and thought my brain had turned to mush.  This course proved me wrong.  I discovered that I can learn again!  I am so excited to start working and continue learning!  Thanks for all your help and encouragement, MED Workshops!  Deb

I chose MED Workshops because of its reputation. They were the only school that I looked into that did not have any complaints with the Better Business Bureau. All of the staff at MED Workshops were very friendly, helpful, and supportive all the way through the course and beyond.  MED Workshops is definitely the best when it comes to medical transcription training.  Delonda

Becoming a medical transcriptionist was a career change for me.  After working in the computer industry for 10+ years, I knew I was not happy with my career and wanted to make a change.  Before choosing MED Workshops, I researched web training and local colleges and found that MED Workshops had the most to offer.  It was the best decision I have ever made!  For the first time in my life I have a career that I absolutely love, a company and people I really enjoy working with, and I feel as though what I am doing is important.  I am no longer just a drone.  I have a great list of benefits that I have gained by making this career choice:  1) I wake up every morning looking forward to my work and loving what I do; 2) My actual work is extremely important and give me satisfaction of having a career where my job much more than something I do to pay the bills; 3) I learn something new every day; 4) I have time to have a life; 5) I get to work from home and make my own hours; 6) I really like MED Workshops mentors and the other employees; and, 7) No commute!  Heather

I have had an interest in medical transcription for many years, even though I have been a nurse since 1972. The appeal to be able to use the medical knowledge I already have, and to have that augment a new career in medical transcription is why I decided to pursue MED Workshops a couple of years ago. I had explored different ways of trying to get started in the field, but they all seemed to lead me back to the fact that some training was necessary for anyone to launch a successful career in medical transcription. After years of high stress nursing jobs, I am quite excited to start my new low-stress-work-at-home-career very soon. I just completed the MED Workshops course this past week and have been most impressed with the quality of training including all the necessary equipment and books that were provided. I only made one phone call to MED Workshops and I started the training almost immediately in the privacy of my own home and at my leisure. Anyone who likes to type and has an interest in medical terminology is a good candidate to enroll with MED Workshops. I am more convinced now than ever, that becoming an "independent contractor" is the only way to go. I considered starting my own business, but found that to be complicated and burdensome. MED Workshops does all the footwork with their Job Placement Program. I am looking forward, with enthusiasm, to completing my final exam and mentored internship in the next few days and realize my new career in medical transcription!  Barbara

I am very thankful for the assistance I was given.  I really had an intuitive relationship with Med Workshops and if I had any problems there were many people who were ready to answer my questions and they always responded very fast.  Med Workshops had a student counselor as my Coach and many resources. Thank you so much for allowing me to share this experience.  Emilia

I found Med Workshops through an ad in the local newspaper after losing a job I had worked for over eight years. One of my duties in my previous employment was to type transcription and I really enjoyed that part of my job. In fact, I had thought about training for medical transcription previously, but I found the expense and time of a classroom setting at a college daunting. I have really enjoyed the training and support I received through Med Workshops. I was able to work at my own pace, and they even provided all of the tools I needed for training and finding me a job placement. Now, I look forward to a rewarding career in the near future. Shirley

I wanted to become a medical transcriptionist so that I could start my own home-based business and utilize my extensive computer skills and experience.  I looked at many different program in both online and classroom settings and Med Workshops's program was the most inclusive.  I knew I had to insist on an Internship.  The course was very challenging and I enjoyed every moment of it.  I feel more than qualified to enter the world of medical transcription.  Med Workshops supports its students throughout the course.  Bridget, my student representative, was always available to answer my questions, cheer me on, and support me 100%.  I highly recommend Med Workshops and its medical transcription course to anyone who is interested in learning a new, valuable and extremely marketable skill.  Kim

After speaking with Bridget I knew Med Workshops was the correct choice!  There are a multitude of training programs available out there and I looked into quite a few before deciding on Med Workshops. Med Workshops has a proven track record and so much experience in training MT's and in contracting with medical organizations as well as recruiting companies. But Bridget really made me feel comfortable and confident that Med Workshops was what I was looking for. She has proven to be so helpful and uplifting throughout my training.  Really, I can't say enough about how her assistance helped guide me and encourage me through the training process. I had been looking for a stay-at-home job for some time. With a teenager to tend to, it really made it nice to have that flexibility of being home when she came home from school, running forgotten homework assignments into school for her, and just knowing I was near at hand should an illness or emergency occur. I really cherish that freedom and thanks to Med Workshops, I see my future in a fulfilling and challenging career as a reality now!! The Medical Transcription career field is on the upswing!! I am so glad I took the chance to better myself and to know that I will now be getting paid for my efforts! I was tired of working for the standard annual percentage raise and not seeing my efforts being compensated. Sure, a pat on the back is nice, but it doesn't pay the bills!! With the training Med Workshops provides, I know I will always have the freedom to pick my hours, write my own paycheck, and continue to grow financially, professionally, and personally. Thank you so much Med Workshops!!!  Jack

Thanks so much, Bridget!  I just love this course. Having been an instructor myself at our community college for eleven years, I can enthusiastically say that the coordination and presentation of the lesson plans have made learning the material a very positive experience for me, parallel to how I would choose to teach my own students. I have said repeatedly to my husband how amazed I am at the organization and presentation of the lessons and that only REAL teacher staff would have had a clue as to how to ease us students through such involved information toward the amazingly positive results I have experienced as one of those students. This has been my first experience doing an on-line course, although I have witnessed other students experiences with them and I have assisted in providing lesson plans for some. I can safely say that MED Workshops outdistances them all in its ease of use, straightforward guidance and logical sequence of the presentation of the learning modules. I have no medical background whatsoever and am truly amazed at the amount of information that I have been able to learn, thanks to this great Intern program. Teresa

If you are looking for a career change that allows flexibility and independence, Med Workshops has the course for you!  I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Med Workshops offered an affordable medical transcriptionist course that could be completed at my own pace.  I loved the fact that no one was pushing me to move on to the next topic until I felt entirely comfortable with the material presented, which was very comprehensive - far more than I ever imagined.  The staff at Med Workshops is very "user friendly" - always there to answer questions or to just cheer you up if you are having a difficult day.  The fact that Med Workshops helps you find employment in the field after graduation is an amazing bonus! Julie

I love you!  You are the best.  I have learned so much, and yet I know that I have very much more to learn.  Thank you for all that you are doing for me.  The teacher appears when the student is ready – and I am so ready!  You will continue to help me turn my life around and let me do what I love to do best.  Jenny

I wanted to write you a note expressing my appreciation for the goals you have helped me attain.  After having my daughter I wanted to be able to stay home and watch her grow and your training workshop and subsequent job opportunity enabled me to do just that.  You were very explicit about what was required and expected of each student to get the most out of the workshop and the opportunity to work with you.  The fact that you supplied everything one might need for class took the guesswork out of what you needed to have on hand.  Your mentors are great teachers.  She is very clear and realistic about the job of transcription, especially about the realities of working from home with a small child.  While staying at home to work is wonderful, it also can be a challenge.  The workshop helped build confidence in my abilities and gave me real skills, tips and tricks to be a successful medical transcriptionist.  Your training has enabled me to stay home and watch my daughter grow.  At the same time, I am doing something useful and challenging.  I am grateful for the opportunity.  Kim

I just wanted to spin off another note.  I have been meaning to write you and thank you for your confidence in my abilities and the opportunity to prove myself as a good transcriptionist.  I appreciate the hard work everyone does at the office to enable the rest of us to stay home and work.  You were a very good teacher. Kimball

I just accepted a job from Health Scribe!  Thank you for finding them for me.  Wonderful News!  Krista

I chose MED Workshops because of its reputation.  They were the only school that I looked into that did not have any complaints with the Better Business Bureau, and they were the only school that guaranteed you a job once you completed the course.  The training was very thorough and up-to-date.  Their program really prepares you for the "real world" of transcription.  All the staff at MED Workshops were very friendly, helpful, and supportive all the way through the course and beyond.  MED Workshops is definitely the best when it comes to medical transcription training. DeLonda

I am currently enrolled in MED Workshops's online program.  I looked around for over a year for an online medical transcription class and kept coming back to MED Workshops.  I am glad I enrolled with them!  Their program is fantastic, not only does it give me an opportunity to have a career in the medical field, but it allows me to stay at home with my kids.  One of the best things about MED Workshops is not only the insight and knowledge they have about the medical transcription field, but it is their desire to help you succeed through their encouragement and always being available to answer any questions any time.  With MED Workshops I know I will go far.  Thanks MED Workshops! Jennifer

The medical transcription course is a very good one.  It is comprehensive and gives over 600 real transcriptions to practice on.  Given my educational background (a PhD in Microbiology), the first part of the course was not difficult at all for me.  If ones does not have a science backbround, this course will quickly get you up to speed.  The second part of the course is where the rubber meets the road.  Just remember, this is where one develops an ear for transcription and nothing accomplishes that better than practice, practice, practice and Internship!  I found MED Workshops through a classified ad in my local paper.  Every time I called MED Workshops, I got the answers to my questions and a good laugh along the way!  I now work at home and couldn't be happier. I love the Job Placement!  Mary

My training with MED Workshops was very professional.  I graduated with Honors, and was working within a month! Kris

I was very happy with the MED Workshops.  I had checked out other self-paced medical transcription training programs and found that MED Workshops's was much more thorough.  Why don't the others offer an Internship?  It started out with the basics and built on that, then offered tons of opportunity to practice and get experienced hearing and transcribing real doctors.  Then, it was so valuable to get the corrections to the work instantly via the internet.  Overall, I was very happy with the training program and felt it did a good job of giving me the basic tools to start doing transcription at home.  I have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone else who is interested in training for medical transcription.  Being able to work at home has been so awesome!  I love the flexibility of being able to set my own schedule each day according to the needs of my family.  It is a great way to supplement my family's income, and I hope to be doing this for many years to come!  Judy

I was interested in medical transcription and saw an ad in the paper for MED Workshops.  I was impressed with the whole package that was offered, the online course (which was very important to me as I was unable to sign up for any course where I would have to go outside my home), the books, partners in education, job placement, online support, and student forum.  The price for me was a bit much, but after an extensive research I found out that it really was reasonably priced with all that it included.  So, after a few months of saving I invested in my education and took the course.  The course was very informative and interesting.  There is an online forum that was very supportive for me.  With so much new information, some days were overwhelming, and sharing with other students helped me get through those days.  Everyone has their own technique of learning.  I do have to say that for anyone taking this course, you must follow it to the tee!  No shortcuts.  If there is a recommendation from the staff of how to learn the material - do it!  I was lucky to have found MED Workshops when I did because I might have spent more money than I actually needed to and might not have had the support I needed.  I would definitely recommend MED Workshops in a heartbeat!  The staff, were always so helpful in whatever I needed.  Thank you all!  Genia

I really appreciate the support that comes along with the program.  I feel I am not doing this alone, and have enough help to get me through. Tina

I picked MED Workshops because I was looking for a job where I could work from home so I could be with my newborn daughter and it was something I had been wanting to get into.  I knew a friend who was doing medical transcription and she really enjoyed it so I got the number from her and started.  The online training was great and if you had any questions you could post them and they would be answered online, which was very helpful.  The staff at MED Workshops was also very supportive.  I emailed a lot and they were always there to help me out and very nice about it.  I would suggest MED Workshops to anyone.  Dani

Frankly, I was tired of working for prima donnas and chauvinists of both genders in a world of perfectionism.  The upshot of being a transcriptionist is that I can use my background to research and probe in depth any area I am given, turn it in, and have the satisfaction that any mistake I might make won't cost me my head!  It has been a wild ride but ever so satisfying!  Susan

Before training with MED Workshops as a medical transcriptionist I was a working single parent continually struggling with daycares and workplace politics.  A career as a medical transcriptionist gave me the flexibility to work within our sometimes hectic schedule and an adequate income to solely support myself and my two children.  The training provided by MED Workshops was in depth, interesting, and challenging.  Erin

Before receiving the flier for the MED Workshops, I knew absolutely nothing about medical transcription.  Yet I was looking for something that would allow me to build my own career while, at the same time, complementing my husband's career in the Navy.  We happened to be living in Washington at the time and MED Workshops was running an ad for the workshop.  I decided to take a chance, still knowing hardly anything about medical transcription, and leap head first into this field.  The people at MED Workshops made me feel confident I had made the right choice.  I loved the program!  The people at MED Workshops were awesome and I got a lot of support from them.  In addition, notes to me sent out by the proofreaders from MED Workshops were a tremendous help.  The support from MED Workshops, during the internship and now on the job, is awesome.  I feel comfortable asking all of my questions and this will truly help me develop into a better medical transcriptionist.  The most fantastic thing that MED Workshops did for my career was give me an opportunity to start the internship and continue working while I am living in Japan on military orders, exactly the reason I started the course!!  Now I have an awesome job and a whole career ahead of me.  Thanks MED Workshops for this unique opportunity. Ericka

The training Staff has the unique ability to blend high expectations with humor and warmth.  She was always approachable and responsive to my many questions and she turned what might have been a very dour set of evenings into a series of delightful moments.  She made the workshop a truly enjoyable experience and to this day, I find myself chuckling over her anecdotes!  Sue

About a year ago I moved to Washington from Idaho.  I was weighing my options as to what I could do for a career when I met a former MED Workshops student, now an educator for MED Workshops, who told me about this great career opportunity.  I signed up for the class and within less than six months was earning an income.  This compared to one to two years of going through a college course and then after graduating finding my own job.  The class was very informative, April is an awesome teacher.  By taking the class and being a WHAM, I am able to be at home with my daughter and I am able to work around events that are going on with her.  My experience with MED Workshops's training course and working for them has been very positive and very rewarding. Heidi

Why MED Workshops? Internship!!!  I wanted to have a well-paying career and still be at home with my two small children. MED Workshops helped me achieve this. I now run to preschool, run to soccer practice, run to the store and WORK. Before I went to work and found other people to run my kids around and do my errands. The most important thing to remember about MED Workshops is that they are always there to help and support you. After the course is over I still call one of the staff members and ask them questions and they are more than happy to help me. Lannatt

MED Workshops has given me the opportunity to work from home so that I can be home when my kids get home from school and when they have all of those days off for whatever reason. This was always a struggle for me to find a job that I could work around my husbands schedule so as not to have to put the kids in daycare. Finding a good reliable daycare isn't easy, especially when you have two kids with disabilities. Most daycare facilities wouldn't even take my kids. This works out great for me. Not to mention the great commute. Actually, there really isn't a commute, other than me driving five miles to pick up my tapes at the ?drop site. I put the kids on the bus in the morning, go pick up my tapes, get back home, and have my work done by the time the kids and my husband get home in the afternoon. It works out great for everyone. Misty

The MED Workshops Medical Transcription Course is very intense, but so very thorough. You could never find a better teacher than April. She is full of information that you would never find through another educational program. Plus, the staff at MED Workshops genuinely cares about your success. The whole experience has been wonderful, and I am finally achieving my goal of being able to combine motherhood with a career. Bridget

I would wholeheartedly recommend MED Workshops to anyone who is considering a career in medical transcription. The training beforehand and practical on-the-job experience during my internship, has been successful. Shortly after my son's birth I was laid off from my job. It was right in the midst of a horrible economy and finding employment in my field was going to be tough. It was also going to be very hard to leave my son at home and have him raised by someone else while I was at work. I knew that my aunt was a medical transcriptionist, who worked out of her home, and that started to interest me. I began looking into the different schools and what they had to offer. Then I saw the newspaper ad for MED Workshops. They not only teach you, but also provide you with Job Placement after you pass the class. It has been a lot of hard work but the payoff has been well worth it. I am able to take care of my son while at home and also earn an income to help support our family. Gretchen

I would like to thank you both for giving me the opportunity to work at home. I have always dreamed of being able to work while still being available to my family. I received outstanding training in medical transcription from April She incorporates humor in her teaching which makes learning enjoyable. I laughed and learned at the same time. I also appreciate your help as I transition from a medical transcription intern to a medical transcription business owner and subcontractor. I am looking forward to continuing our working relationship. Cynthia

I have learned so much, but also have learned that I can do more than I thought I could when I started.  MED Workshops helped me to recognize that I have more talents than I was aware of in this field.  I cannot imagine trying to go through another course for the same information or support that I have been given in the MED Workshops course.  Jean is a magnificent teacher.  She gives of herself and more.  She has the experience, knowledge, and ability to give that knowledge in such a precise way that makes all the difference in the world.  This program has all the proper techniques, tools, tips, and most importantly, the working information that mean all the difference in the world to a medical transcriptionist.  I would not have even attempted to try to go through another course, as they can take up to two years or more.  I am aware that this is not the easiest job anyone could attempt, but I can say that I am sure MED Workshops offers the best, most informative and important way that a person can learn medical transcription. Cynthia

I had been looking into medical transcription when a friend told me about MED Workshops. I called and was very impressed with the personal and supportive treatment I got. I am now working, thanks to your job placement, and I love being a medical transcriptionist. MED Workshops Internship makes being a transcriptionist easy. I can be at home with my children and still stimulate my brain with something interesting, challenging and rewarding! Shelly

I am a stay at home mother of three who's youngest is entering kindergarten this Fall and was looking for a business that would allow me to work at home part time while working around our family's often chaotic schedule. I found that and more with MED Workshops. I just recently completed MED Workshops's Bright Start and love it! The course was very fast paced with a wealth of information, but at the same time was a lot of fun. Stacey is such a great instructor and has an answer for everything. I am amazed at the knowledge that she has and her ability to encourage you when you need it most. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who is looking for a business while having the flexibility to be with your family. Laura

At the time I started the workshop I was nineteen years old, three months pregnant and working full time as a waitress. Studying and doing my typing for the class was somewhat difficult for me, but I believe it can be achieved by any dedicated person. Working at home is very convenient for me because I do not have to put my newborn into daycare. Joan's vast knowledge of the medical field makes her a great instructor and I recommend this class for anyone who wants to make a career change for the better. Mattie

When I found out I was pregnant with my daughter I knew that I wasn't about to put her in daycare. I knew I wanted to be at home with her, but also be able to earn an income as well. I thought it was hopeless until a friend of mine told me she was checking into MED Workshops. I had no idea what she was talking about so I called and MED Workshops sent me some information on their program. When I received it my husband and I went over it I don't know how many times until we finally decided to take a chance. Well, it was the best thing I have ever done. The workshop was great. It provided all the information that one would need to be employed as a medical transcriptionist and work at home in a short period of time. I am now employed as a subcontractor and love it. I am at home with my family and don't have to worry about sitting in traffic or dropping off my daughter at daycare anymore! Allissa

MED Workshops has given me the freedom to have my own business, be able to stay at home with my kids and keep an exciting career in the medical field! I finally have a job that I look forward to doing everyday. Karen is a wonderful person and very patient and has an answer for any question I can come up with. She is always there to help and is always glad to do so! She made the MED Workshops workshop fun to participate in and easy to learn the materials. I thank MED Workshops and Karen for their continued support and helping me to be an at home mom and own my own business at the same time. Thank you Karen for all wonderful opportunities you have provided me and for being the wonderful person you are! Deborah

Thanks for providing me with the training necessary to start my career in medical transcription. Your guidance has allowed me to work where and when I've always wanted - my house (after I take my sweet time getting out of bed). I want to thank you for your frankness and patience and look forward to my future working with you in this challenging and interesting field. James

Thank you Med Workshops. Thank you for all training, questions answered, mentoring and all the help. I could not have done this without you. Thanks to MED Workshops, I'm a stay at home mom with an income! Thanks again. Sally

I took MED Workshops's Summer 2001 Bright Start and Mentored Internship Class. I found the content very interesting, the material fast paced. I immediately received a position as a contractor and the class paid for itself in two months of working full time! This has allowed me to stay home with my son and still earn an income. The people I have worked with at MED Workshops have been very helpful and I am excited to continue my career. Tanya

I took MED Workshops's online course and found it both wonderful. Wonderful in that I could learn at my own pace in the comfort of my own home (and in my PJ's). I had great help and support from Joan. Anytime I needed help or a question answered, she was available by Forum or email. I am now working through an Job Placement with MED Workshops.  April's knowledge of the medical field is astounding and Joe's pep talks have helped me through some rough spots. I am looking forward to a long, rewarding career in the medical transcription field. Thanks MED Workshops. Kathryn

I really wanted to stay at home and work, somehow. I could have found a clerical position outside the home, but that would mean day care, driving time and stress, etc. I especially didn't want to deal with sick kids and having to go to work. If I worked at home I could stay with my kids and still make money, but it sounded too good to be true. I finally responded to the ad in the newspaper and after talking to Rachel a few times I was convinced it would all work out in time. Rachel was straightforward about the particular course I chose and about what it takes to be a medical transcriptionist at home. MED Workshops offers different types of courses. I took the FULL on-line course and because I wanted to have the freedom to study whenever I could. It took me a full year to complete the course and there were many times I wanted to cry or quit, or throw my computer out the window, but I stuck with it! Worthwhile education is never easy. I am now basically my own boss and have reached my goal of working at home. What more could I ask for? Vicki

Deciding to enter the workforce again after 13 years of being a stay-at-home mom was a little unnerving to me. I decided to give MED Workshops a call and see if transcription would be a good fit for me. Speaking with Joe and April about the opportunities in transcription got me motivated and I was excited to begin my classes. At 42 years old I was a little concerned that this old bird might have difficulty learning new concepts. This class was so well organized and well taught that I feel that I can be a success in the transcription field. The materials and resources that are received are exceptional. I can't say enough wonderful things about MED Workshops, it has given me new confidence and a feeling of success as I entered the workforce once again. I love the flexibility that this job offers and the challenges too. You won't find a more patient, kind, motivating instructor than Karen. She clearly knows this field inside and out and is able to instill an enthusiasm for excellence. Thank you Karen and Joe. Juliette

Your classes are great! Your support system is fantastic. I still find it hard to believe that a year ago I was fumbling with trying to pronounce medical terms, and now here I am, owner of my own business; because of the excellent training and guidance that I received from Rachel, if I do come across a word I do not know, I remember the prefix/suffix lessons and can look it up quickly. The classes were hard work, but they were also fun and maybe that is why the lessons learned have stuck. I have the best of all worlds. I am employed as a subcontractor, I get to work at home and if I want to work in my jammies  no one knows except ME!!! Mary

MED Workshops is a wonderful company to work with. My sister and I took their medical transcription class together and it was an excellent experience. Now I am a medical transcriptionist working from home and learning new things everyday. Tabitha

I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you for being such a great teacher and mentor. You have been such an encourager and your patience is incredible. I began this adventure with much trepidation and fear, wondering if this "old dog" could learn some new tricks. Through your simple, clear and encouraging techniques you have made me feel like I can learn new things. It is obvious why your business is such a success. Thank You so much. Brenda

I just completed the course and I am currently employed as a medical transcriptionist. Over the past four months, Jean has been an outstanding instructor, employer, resource and friend. She has made my participation in the program extremely pleasant. Ever since I began this program she has continually impressed me with her availability, her personality and her knowledge. First of all, Jean has made it very easy for me to get a hold of her thru the Forum.  However, her availability would not mean much if she did not have an answer, which is not the case. She is extremely smart and has a wealth of knowledge in the medical field that never ceases to amaze me. No matter the term or question, she always has an answer for me. Last but not least is Jean's personality. I can honestly say no matter how bad I ever felt for calling she immediately put my worries to rest. Not only does she answer any question I had for her, she quickly followed up her answer with positive words of encouragement. Therefore, I have no reservations in recognizing her as one of the finest instructors I have known. What can I say about this woman to do her justice? She is simply... awesome! I highly recommend this program and have absolutely no reservations about MED Workshops. I encourage potential transcriptionists to pursue their training with Jean at Med Workshop. Caren

I found out about medical transcription from a neighbor of mine who has several friends who have gone through MED Workshops. I decided after I had my second child and having 3 children at home, including my step-daughter, I could not bear leaving them with daycare again. My neighbor recommended MED Workshopss work shop to me and as I looked into it I found it was less expensive and took considerably less time than going through a community college. I am now able to stay home with my three kids and I still have an income I can be proud of. Working part time I am making the same money I did working full time and paying daycare. Going to MED Workshops was the best thing I ever did for myself and my family. Sarah

I completed the MED Workshops workshop in August 2001. I found the internship and the training I received through MED Workshops to be just what I needed to obtain employment as a medical transcriptionist and work at home in a relatively short period of time. I have continued to receive support and encouragement from MED Workshops. MED Workshops has always been very gracious and supportive in answering my questions and addressing my concerns. Through MED Workshops's internship I have accomplished in less than one year what might have taken two or three years had I chosen another at home course or course offered through the community colleges. Thank You. Colleen

I attended the winter 2001 transcription classes offered by MED Workshops. They were very informative and invaluable to the new career I had embarked upon. The class schedule offered ample class and study time with assistance available whenever needed. It has been wonderful to work with MED Workshops. They have gone out of their way to make sure I have the information and knowledge necessary to become a good transcriptionist. They are always available and willing to answer questions and help to solve any problems that may arise. Being able to pretty much set my own hours and work from my own home has been absolutely fantastic. Victoria

Twice over the years I looked into medical transcription education and both times I felt I would not have much success in the endeavor due to the high cost of the materials and having to learn it at home entirely on my own. Going to Community College for a degree was not much different in terms of cost, learning on my own and time involved. MED Workshops offered the benefits I was looking for. It was short-term class that was cost efficient. I could work at my own pace and it provided hands-on materials and practical mentoring with experience and wit. MED Workshops provided the experience I needed to be hired in the workplace. I highly recommend MED Workshops and the class if you are considering becoming a medical transcriptionist. Talia

In the beginning I honestly did not think I could do this without any typing skills. Now, not only am I a fast typist, but a more accurate one. Thanks to MED Workshops for giving me my life back so that I may spend my valuable time with my family and bring in a paycheck. If you ever felt as though you spend most of the time away from home just to pay for the home, then I would recommend this course to anyone trying to get their life back. MED Workshops is a home friendly and fully understands the necessity of financial security and a home life. Sherif

I would like to thank you for the opportunity that I have been allowed thanks to your transcription school and transcription job network.  Jean is an excellent teacher.  She taught many details about transcription that I never would have been taught by taking a college course or a home study course that have been extremely helpful to me.  By attending your school and then going to work for the Company you found me, it has allowed me the freedom to successfully start my own business at home to get away from the corporate world, allowed me to be accessible for my family, and yet still bring in a good income.  I appreciate the fact that you do all of the marketing to bring in new Transcription Companies.  Jean is extremely helpful in answering any questions that I have and helping me to learn where to go to get answers on my own.  The school and internship were very intense, but very well worth my time, investment and effort.  I have learned a great deal and thoroughly enjoy doing transcription.  I look forward to many years of continued work in transcription with MED Workshops.  Once again, thank you so much for your wonderful support.  Merle

I thoroughly enjoyed attending your school. April is an excellent teacher. April taught many details about transcription that I never would have been taught by taking a college course or a home study course that have been extremely helpful to me. By attending your school and then going to work for the Company you found, it has allowed me the freedom to successfully start my own business at home to get away from the corporate world, allowed me to be accessible for my family and yet still bring in a good income. April is extremely helpful in answering any questions that I have and helping me to learn where to go to get answers on my own. I have learned a great deal and thoroughly enjoy doing transcription. Lucinda

I recently went through the MED Workshops medical transcription course and have been pleasantly surprised by the resulting education and work knowledge that I have received by taking their course. The course is well rounded, well informed and well directed. The practice transcription, workbooks, anatomy books, etc., helped develop and master my current work Internship I can feel confident in my ability to perform under more challenging circumstances, with wider knowledge and understanding, than I would have been able to do if I had taken a different course. Karen

I had been looking for some sort of work-at-home program for quite a few years when I came across the ad for MED Workshops. I believe my time is valuable and I spent so much wasted time commuting to my last job (up to an hour and a half one way). This didn't leave much time for anything else. So, I met with Joe and this sounded like something I might like to do. I had called on a lot of medical transcription programs. Jean made learning the medical terminology, which at first seemed like a foreign language, comprehensive. Her method of teaching made learning interesting and fun. Now my commute time consists of walking to my computer in my own home. There are some other pluses and freedoms too, such as, for the most part, making my own hours, taking breaks when I want and working in my pajamas! No more sitting in traffic. MED Workshops is great program and I would definitely do it over again. Jane

I cannot imagine trying to go through another course for the same information that I have been given in the MED Workshops course. Karen is a magnificent mentor. She gives of herself and more. She has the experience, knowledge and ability to give that knowledge in such a precise way that will make all the difference in the world. This program has all the proper techniques, tools, programs and most importantly, the working information that mean all the difference in the world of a medical transcriptionist and to the medical professionals that need the information to be 100% correct, but most importantly, the patient?s lives that are in the balance. I know, after having completed this course, and even before, that I would not have even attempted to try to go through another course. I know other courses can take up to two years or more, and I am also aware that this is not the easiest job anyone could attempt, but all I can say is that I am sure that this is the best, most informative, and important way that a person can learn medical transcription: By the knowledge, caring and program taught to us by MED Workshops. Monica

For me, these classes were a dream come true. I had been looking into the field of medical transcription for at least a year before I came across these classes and MED Workshops. There is so much information that is necessary to know to become a medical transcriptionist. Workbooks and software were a great asset to establish a baseline of knowledge of which I work from. Jean, shares her experience and knowledge and is very helpful. She answered any questions once the classes were over. The main things I walked away with from the classes were a baseline of knowledge and reference materials for working in this field, a relationship with future co-workers and most important; a job working in the field of medical transcription. June

Deciding to be a medical transcriptionist from home is the best decision that I have made and April is a wonderful coach teaching me all the skills necessary to accomplish this goal. The course has a wealth of information and Karen is very knowledgeable and more than willing to share what she knows with her students. By the end of the class I felt as if I had an extremely solid understanding of medical terminology and the ability to fully use my resources when necessary for what I did not know. I am so happy that I took this class and love what I am doing for a living now. I completely recommend that anyone who wishes to work from home and make a good income take this class from MED Workshops. It will be a great start to a fantastic career AT HOME!  Erika

Karen, thank you so much for all you?ve done for me. Your help means so much. Sherri

Graduates Prior to 2000:

One of my biggest desires was to work at home. MED Workshops provided a way for me to do that. I am now working in my own office with my own view of Mt. Rainier and loving it. MED Workshops's training and instruction and mentoring helped me to achieve this goal of mine. The classes were not only interesting and educational but they were even fun. And now the greatest thing is that I am making money!!! Thank You MED Workshops for making my dream come true. Ronda

I would like to express my gratitude to you for making it possible for me to attend such a valuable medical transcription training course. As a result of the professional and informative teaching style presented by the instructor/mentors, I was able to develop a great confidence in the knowledge acquired while in attendance. The relaxed, comfortable environment allowed for me to feel at ease, creating a learning experience that has been very beneficial to me. The curriculum was excellent, focusing not only on the administrative aspect, but including medical terminology as well as physical anatomy. The training has provided me with the ability to begin and maintain a successful at-home business that I am most proud of. MED Workshops provides an unmatched resource for people like myself to become self-employed medical transcriptionists. Larry

I am writing this letter in recommendation of Jean and MED Workshops.  In June of 1999, I began a transcription course taught by Jean. Since that time, Jean, has helped me learn the necessary skills to work at home doing medical transcription. Jean is willing to help whenever I have a question and she has continued to help me learn new skills and techniques. Because of internship, I have been able to learn a marketable skill enabling me to work at home. I am able to be with my children and not leave them for a career that would otherwise take me outside of my home. Stella

I am very glad that I found the class given by Karen at Med Workshops. I am thankful that I was able to take the medical transcription class since it has allowed me to stay home and raise my young daughter and earn money at the same time. I have learned so much about medicine in just a brief time. My job is interesting and challenging and I love it. Becky

Congratulations! You have made a great choice! MED Workshops has made it possible for me to achieve my goal to become a medical transcriptionist. MED Workshops provides professional and informative classes that prepare you to accomplish the task ahead. Fun, friendly atmosphere, educational, and progressive. I love it. Cathy

Karen and MED Workshops have helped me to become an at-home mom in a short period of time without sacrificing our financial situation. April is very supportive and she has been a huge help to me in many ways. Shelby

This class was an opportunity to work from home, on my own time, yet with the support of a mentor and the opportunity to ask questions and have discussions about the medical transcription field. The experience provided by the mentor along with the internship that made it work. Dorothy

I found the course to be very educational and challenging. Jean was an excellent course coach. She gave us a very accurate description of the field of medical transcription. When the course was completed I began working as a medical transcriptionist. I have found the job to be very interesting. Even though I'm working at home alone, I take a lot of comfort in the fact that Jean is just an email away. Jean has never ceased to amaze me. Whenever I am completely stumped by a word, I give Jean an email and she knows it off the top of her head. What I appreciate the most is that she won't just tell me what the word is. She'll go the extra step and explain to me what the word means and also explains to me the procedures, etc. That way I feel as if I'm getting a full understanding about what it is I'm typing about. I don't feel as if I'm just typing a lot of medical words I can't even pronounce, let alone spell! Working as a medical transcriptionist is continually educational and sometimes extremely challenging, but rest assured, help is just a Forum away. Donnetta

I found Ms. Roberts not only to be a knowledgeable and articulate instructor, but a warm and caring instructor as well. Taking the course through Karen offered me many things that correspondence courses could not. It offered me one on one interaction, feedback on my progress, someone to ask questions of and the possibility of a job placement when I was finished. If I had it to do all over again, I would still call. Stacey
